"My future does not reside in Philadelphia."

I sent that line as a tweet to Erin (riookierin), tonight.

And it's true.

I have never envisioned myself, at say, the ripe ol' age of over 30, living in this city. Whatever it used to be, years ago, it's not anymore, and I'm over it ( Read more... )

LA, bb!

But I'll reconsider, if you're telling me that I get to grope you up in the shower every morning. :D

I had a "quarter life crisis" when I was 22 and packed up all my stuff and moved to a big city where I didn't know anyone at all. I didn't have a job, and basically just picked a place on the map and moved my entire life there. It was extremely scary and exhilarating at the same time. I finally felt free, and that was one of the best things I've ever done for myself. I hope things work out the same way for you :)

I told my mom last night, about this decision, and she was just like "...". LOL I know it's rough for her, because I just moved out of her house, and she was actually upset about that! Now, I'm telling her that in 2 years, I'm moving cross-country! Double-whammy.

I love traveling so much, and when I leave my trip destination to come back home to Philly, I'm always like "...No. I don't belong here." I am so over this city, omg. LA is totally it for me...and not even because I want to get in to the entertainment business; I don't, really. I am just completely enamored by that place!

if it's what you really want to do, and you know in your heart that it's the right thing for you, then be true to yourself and follow your heart. You're family will understand. Good luck bb <3

This is kind of what I was shooting for when I moved to California...however things didn't work out and it seems there was a reason for that. However, I desperately do not want to still be here in this place in 3 years.

I'll keep all possible appendages crossed for you and hope it works out fine, but you seem 10x more determined and adaptable than I do so I'm sure it will.

I mean, sure, I really love the part of the city I live in now, but uck. Philly is just so lame. Totally disillusioned with it, really.

Anyway, thanks, and hopefully, your next move willwork out better! <3

I understand what you're saying for sure. When you definitely feel that your life continues elsewhere, you've gotta follow that.

Thank you. I'm hopefully going to be better prepared for it this time, but I don't regret it. It was wonderful for awhile there.

Get up and go. I kinda see where you're coming from, although i'm not really sure if we're feeling the same way. I mean, for me moving to Germany for 4-6 years to do university started off as a "well that sounds fun" sort of idea, but i've gotten more and more serious to where almost nothing will stop me because... well that place just feels... comfortable to me. Munich especially. Like, comparing how "at home" i feel in Philly, a place i've been to god knows how many times, to how "at home" i feel in Munich, a place that i've only been to twice, it really makes me wonder. I mean, i did actually live in Munich/the suburbs of so maybe that changes things a little, even if it was just for 3 weeks, but even the first time i went that place just felt like home. I remember being with my partner, walking through a freakin' subway station late at night and thinking "i love this city, this is where i belong". And it's like, if a place feels like home the second i set foot in it, and a place i've been to god knows how many times STILL doesn't ( ... )
