....hmm.

I came over here to make an entry, but now I've completely forgotten whatever it was I was going to write about.

Anikooooo (ineptmagicuser BUT YOU KNEW THAT) and I are (re)watching Star Trek: The Next Generation (we picked that one mostly because it's the only series we own). All seven seasons and 726 episodes (edit: I know it's not really that long. It is ( Read more... )

wow 0_______0 good luck with that. Let me know if you have any brain cells left after doing that, k? xD I don't know jack-shit about Star Trek but Joe and Dan dragged me off to the movies to see it anyway and I think I kind of understood it? :p Are you going to see the movie after you watch the series?

MY GUESS IS GOING TO BE NO. Brain goes away. Goodbye, brain. I'll miss you.

Since the movie's a new continuity, it shouldn't matter too much that you don't know anything. Probably missed some nods to the fans, but the story itself is designed to be understandable for new folk. We've both seen it twice, heh. It was actually watching the movie that made her want to watch the series, but since neither of us own the original series (and it'd take forever to stream), she decided to watch her Next Generation DVD set, instead. And since I like Star Trek, I decided to watch, as well. (The movie will probably be out on DVD before we finish the series, since it is so freakishly long.)

Most people miss their brains when it goes buh-bye :p It's real hard to function without it.

Yeah, Joe mentioned that. So then I didn't go in completely confused because it was like sort of starting from the beginning, right? even though I didn't have a clue what most people in the theater were talking about. o.0 But they were all talking about fandom stuff anyway. I haven't seen Next Generation at all, but Joe's trying to get me to watch it. I have a feeling I'd be really confused though since I've only seen the movie.

MOST PEOPLE ARE LAME.

Yeah, the movie's in a different reality then the television series. And the cool thing about Star Trek television series is that, while they're all connected and there's a definite timeline, each new show starts from zero and works up, so even starting with TNG you should be pretty okay. There's nods to the other series, but I don't think any of it is stuff that should be too confusing. LET ME KNOW IF YOU START WATCHING \o/

I actually liked a large amount of TNG. I couldn't watch it all in a row or I would want to spork someone. Good luck !

Haha, yeah, we tend to cue it up later on in the evening, so we can only watch two or three episodes at a time before I fall asleep, and then we spend half the time snarking at it à la MST. It's fun!

(Current crack!theory: Riker hates everyone else on the crew and wants them all to die or at least go very far away. "Supported" by the amount of annoyed expressions he makes.)

that theory has some merit :)

And it makes things *hilarious.* (We find great glee in providing his disgruntled - and occasionally homicidal - thoughts on everything.)
