In 1838 Governor Liburn Boggs issued Executive Order 44, which called for the extermination of Mormons living in the State of Missouri. The Governor actually made it legal to shoot and kill Mormons or drive them out of the state. Many groups took advantage of this as a sport, burning houses, torturing men, raping women, and killing children for fun
