Welcome to My Journal

Jan 01, 2020 23:46

Hi there. This post is posted in the far off future (and the not-to-distant-past) in order for folks who have come to my journal to let me know that they've been here. I realized that there are a number of people who have recently added me to their f-list with whom I am not familiar.

If you haven't already, please read my Profile Page to find out ( Read more... )

BTW, Thanks for inadvertently reminding me I need to seriously revamp my filter system, rather due to a number of very new additions to my f-list... not really because of who they are per se, but because my old categories are simply terribly obsolete. ^^

If the word "flist" gets put into the dictionary I am going to directly blame you! ::shakes fist::

And why do you hate it? "Friend list" is at least descriptive and tells you a bit what it's for. "F-list" is what, a list of Fs?

Cheers!

:-P

I'm not the first to use the term "F-list".
I don't like it because it's not indicative, really, of what that list is. My definition of a "friend" involves someone who I know personally, in real life, that I like, find interesting, and with whom I can have a good long enoyable conversation; someone I wouldn't mind hanging out with on a regular basis.
(Although I do have some online friends who I've only considered "friends" only after several years of extensive interactions).

It's more of a "readers' list" really. There's a smattering of friends, acquaintances, and strangers (people whom have been recommended to me to read, people who f-listed me that I felt were sympatico enough with my own set of beliefs etc.)

Insofar as "F-list", why not? Friends isn't exactly correct, and shortened, almost everyone knows what it means, and it's no better or worse term than anything else, short of 'Reader's List'.

Okay, I won't personal hold you responsible :)

Hrm, how about "Members list" or "Network"? Something to indicate that these folks have a higher access level to a journal.

Eh, I just don't like "F-list" because it's indicative of the way we just shorten things until they have no meaning except to the few who know the origin of the "word" in the first place.

But I've derailed your "friend locked" post enough. Cheers!

i believe we share a love of steampunk and a DIY attitude.
if you have a "fandom" or StamPunk filter I'd love to be on it.

Oh, mutual and intersecting interests...

So far, with you in mind, i've managed to find extras of Mardi Gras doubloons of the
following krewes to give you:

Thoth in both silver and blue types.
(and i'm waiting for some extras of the
beautiful Frolich designed 1997 Ancient Egyptian style reverse in light blue)

Isis-the early seated type in silver colour.

Cleopatra, both silver and red colours.

Nefertari-the only octagonal doubloons
and a scarab is part of the krewe design.
In silver colour.

Not guessed yet on the dozens of Greek/Roman themed krewes, Bacchus, Diana, Poseidon, Juno, Pandora, etc...
I'll post an entry when i have sorted out stuff for everyone for whom i've found types i think they'll like.
