Two photos of the most important method of transportation in Venice.
A Piece of Time
We saw this old Venetian sailboat moored near the Rialto. A modern motortaxi was speeding behind it, and I snapped the photo because I wanted the juxoposition of new and old.
To help with the feeling, I converted the photo to black and white, then brought back the color AROUND the old sailboat. However, I don't know that if it's visible in the web version. The printed version looks grand.
Gondolas
A long exposure of the gondolas facing San Giorgio Maggiore. Because of the movement of the water, the gondolas are in constant motion, while everything else stayed stock still. In order to bring out some "detail" in the black bodies of the gondolas, I fired a hand-held flash in certain spots. This was taken just after sunset.
