I agree with you on the milk, although I do drink some of my stronger black teas with a touch of sweet.
However, Japanese confections served with tea are vastly different (and much tastier) than the Western ones. I can't imagine dunking a mochi-like wagashi into my tea..
Five seconds in the tea (and we are talking stronger British tea, not weaker American tea :) did it for some contestants. Many biscuits were limp after just five seconds. The trick appears to be the technique you use in removing the biscuit from the tea.
We're thinking of returning to the exhibit on the 14th of August when it's 'Mad Science' weekend. They run the tea duelling on Saturdays and Sundays, and this time, we might participate. We just watched last time.
