Question in regards to femslash

Aug 18, 2005 19:26

Okay, so I've been getting into femslash a lot lately, thanks almost entirely to cadence_k and femslash_minis. (I've even found myself kinda "meh" about writing het of any kind.) The femslash love is not a bad thing, as a great deal of my fandom-loving flist would tell me. Even at the expense of het, although there are those who might debate that ( Read more... )

Hah! Nice to know. ;)

Personally, I think the idea is pretty sexy, regardless of who's using it on who.

And Anya would use one on Xander just because she wouldn't have any socially ingrained preconceptions about it one way or another and would love it as long as it led to more orgasms.

I hadn't even thought of it like that, but this is a very good point. Orgasms are the point, so why reject something on any basis if it contributes to her pleasure?

I try not to think about Kennedy and sex. I really disliked her.

Here via cadence_k. Hi!

when writing femslash, is it offensive to use sex toys that are phallic in nature?

I don't think so. I use 'em in my own life, and in every lesbian/queer circle I've traveled in, they've been a common and accepted color of the sexual rainbow. I think that some fanfic couples would be more likely to use them than others, but in a lot of cases, I think it's more realistic to use them than to leave them out. Without question, there are ways to write a scene with a strap-on that make it clear that you don't mean that sex with a strap-on is somehow better or more real than fisting or eating pussy or whatever ( ... )

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to ignore you. I've been bad about keeping up with comments to my posts lately. Tonight is a catch-up night, both with my own journal and with my flist. :)

I completely agree with this. I think there are a number of femslash pairings that would really have fun with them-Faith and Buffy, for example, or Faith and Cordelia. *thinks* Hell, Faith and almost anyone would be plausible. ;)

So yes, by including scenes with sex toys, you may alienate a few people. But trust me, you will make some of us... well, ecstatic.

Which is, of course, my goal. *grins* Besides, I just think they're fun. And who can look at a big, smooth purple rubber dildo and think it looks like a penis? LOL
