Immigration in the U.S. - Intrusive & Expensive but apparently no one cares...

Today's entry will be about immigration to the United States. I am going to be as eloquent about it as I can without sinking to a place where all I can do is scream incoherently and curse because I am so frustrated & angry with the ignorance of the populace. Well said. It's a similar situation here. I get particularly angry when I hear people ranting about asylum seekers. It seems to be common place in our psyche these days to

a) Instead of valuing what you have, looking at others, usually weaker than you, to complain about what they have which you feel somehow belongs to you

b) Inspite of science and democracy believe that a person's rights to be in a particular place is dependent on their genetic material and ancestors birthplaces.

I've had a fair bit of personal experience with this, since my wife is Canadian. It took us approximately 4 years and $8000 in various fees and immigration lawyer payments to get her here, as it seems every time you file any paperwork with the US government it costs $150. And there's a lot of stuff to file ( ... )
