People confuse "activity" and "accomplishment". But "doing something" doesn't in any way imply that you're getting useful stuff done.
There's a point to be made here about how leisure has been found to be good for your mental health as well, but most people can't understand that idea, so I usually just stick with the "activity != accomplishment" argument.
