I am truly beginning to dread these required journal entries. I can never say what I truly want to say. I suppose I must talk about the events of yesterday. A very eventful day.

Due to Professor Snape's incautious betting at billiards, the choice of Quality Time activities was once again up to me. We were supposed to spend the entire day together, so I had to choose an appropriate activity. It wasn't easy. Finally, I came up with the idea of fishing. Something I don't really care for but I knew that Snape would loathe. I announced this to him at breakfast and told him to dress appropriately.

So what does he show up wearing? Black, from chin to toe. Although more casually than I've ever seen him. A turtleneck jumper. No buttons. I was shocked. This would become important later. But I digress.

After the usual mutual mockery of our respective clothing (for some reason he thought mine was remiss) we got underway. Luckily, the boat was enchanted to drive itself, and we got right to fishing. Well, I did. Snape had very obviously never done this before, but he tried to bluff and failed. After a bit of discussion, however, we settled down to a surprisingly enjoyable day. Not many fish were caught, but I was able to work on my tan.
Though now Snape is convinced I shall expire within the year from skin cancer.

Then things got interesting.

Snape was actually getting the hang of it when he must have hooked a really big fish. Being the stubborn git that he is, he didn't let go, and got pulled right over the side. Into the frigid North Sea.

Why didn't he mention he couldn't swim?

So I threw him a rope. He couldn't get hold of it properly, and with the temperature of the water he was losing strength fast. I had no choice but to go in after him. That water was icy. It's not easy to get a man who is nearly as tall as me, and dressed head to toe in heavy clothes, over the side of a boat. By the time I got him back on board, I was nearly frozen and he was barely breathing.

It took a while, but I finally got him conscious and warmed up.

By then, it was late. The fish we had caught were lost when Snape went overboard. So we decided to call it a day and head in.

We were quite hungry and shaken by then, so we found a nice inn on the way back and stopped in for a meal. And a few pints. And a few more... well, suffice it to say that we decided we were too tired to apparate safely, so we got a room.

Which is why we didn't arrive back to Hogwarts until this afternoon. As I'm sure you all noticed.
