Ok, so I went on the internet and ran a couple google searches. From the religious studies programs in the U.S. I found about 16 places, including:
U of Missouri Columbia
Arizona State
U of North Carolina Chapel Hill (out)
Florida State (out)
U of Florida Gainesville (out)
New York U
Columbia U (out)
Syracuse U
Temple U
U of Washington (out)
U of Denver
U of South Carolina (out)
U of Iowa
Indiana U
U of Pennsylvania
U of Pittsburgh
Here are the places I really don't want to go to school:
South Carolina, Iowa, and Missouri
I kind of like Arizona State the best. They had the best presented information on their website without having to click on a bunch of places. I really should e-mail them. My friend is interested in me going there, because she lives in Phoenix. I think that we could be really great friends if I went down there. The only problem is financing for school, but I think that I should go for it even if I have to take out a billion loans.
I just got my gre book today too. I am hoping to pick it up from my parents house after work. I will probably start studying for the GRE once I finish the last two certification exams I need to take. I guess I should pick 5 or 6 schools that I want to apply to, because it costs a ton of money to send score reports and pay off application fees and such. I also need to find 3 professors that know me decently to write reccommendations. That could be a problem, because I know maybe one professor that would fit the bill (Dr. Appi). However, the only other people I can think of are Tobi, who is the former LGBT coordinator at UMKC, and possibly Glenn my religious studies professor from my freshman year. I don't know. I need to look at all my previous classes and pick some people out. Maybe I can get Lynn Pries or Dr. Davis from North Central to write me some reccomendations. They know me pretty well and could give some good letters. It is going to be a challenge definetely. I have never written a paper over 8 pages really and I think a couple places want writing samples. Maybe I should take some Community College Courses that deal with writing massive papers. I guess I have some time to figure all this stuff out. I am glad I have a 3.1 gpa though. It looks like it helps. A good GRE score might help too. Life is looking up...
