So Irv died last week. I cried, then this week hits and we get a 2 hour finale. We finally see the thick layers of Edna removed and her grief comes out. Harold and Rose get that baby they deserve when a random patient drops her baby off at their doorstep unable to care for it. Amy finally realizes she loves Ephram and they get together in a permanent way. Jake finally leaves and lets Andy propose to Nina. Delia gets Bat Mitzvahed and Andy finally lets go of Julia 4 years later. Hannah realizes she wants to stay in Everwood and go to school with Bright. Who could have made a better finale?
The only thing I miss is Nina and Andy's Wedding...I feel like they did a good job, but we never got the actual wedding. It seemed like the theme overall was family and soulmates. It was bittersweet the way it ended. It only lasted 4 years, enough or syndication, only to get cut short, because the WB was hell bent on reviving the dead 7th Heaven Series. Most people only watched the finale because it was finally ending and they couldn't believe it for their eyes. I sit here realizing that the networks are stupid half the time. They would rather pick angsty teen drama over a family show with real life situations. As I watch the finale for the second time I see the point where Amy is realizing what she needs to do to win Ephram back. I remember what a long struggle Ephram went through to win Amy. I remember how the entire show started out with Colin, Amy's boyfriend, in a coma. I remember Amy asking Ephram to get his dad to perform some type of invasive surgery on Colin's Brain. Then Bright and Colin and Ephram are all great friends, until Colin's death on the operating table the next season. Even then after Colin's death Ephram could not be with Amy. She was grieving. She thought she lost her soulmate. Slowly she realized that Ephram was it. I thought it was amazing how they touched on life and death a lot in this show in the first few seasons. Julia's death...Colin's death...Ephram's whole situation with his father and how they slowly got to know each other. Delia's change from tomboy to a full fledged girl. Harold coming a little out of his shell. Rose's cancer situation. Irv's death. It was all very real. Somehow in the middle of all this we meet Hannah. She starts out this really shy girl who writes in a journal. She comes out of her shell slowly and we find out she is into Bright. Bright was always the screw up and we see him grow up from this annoying jock to this great young man. I remember when we start out he regrets Colin's death. He was the one driving when Colin got hurt. He was this huge partying dolt and he ends up this young man who finally knows what he wants. There is just so much more I would love to cover. I just can't believe that this show is ending after only four years. I feel like it was just to young to end. I swear I was watching season one episodes a little while ago at a friend's house discovering this show for the first time. At least it went out with a bang and not just a whimper. Hopefully, another season is received, if not the writers and directors did an awesome job. The whole point of the show was for the characters to grow from day one and everyone has grown up a lot. They did an awesome job.
