I'm so happy, relieved, inspired to read about your experiences with this dynamic. It gives me hope and reasserts what I've felt all along -- that whatever the risk, I don't want to wake up at 40 years of age and have nothing to show for this life but a well-cultivated security.
I know you can't see it, but I'm raising a victory fist for you and your family. I'm glad you got there.

And good on you! I, on the other hand, am happy at this stageto opt for home country security during the child-rearing years, but damned if I'm going to abandon my creative writing pursuits. In fact, since having Zac I've been doing more creative writing than I have for years, because of the courses I'm studying and their stirring effects on my creative endeavours. I did have a shaky moment yesterday when I left my clinging, crying son at family day care to study poetry. Urk. Sounds (and felt) like the ultimate in self-indulgence and neglect. But hey - he was completely unbothered the first couple of times he went. Hopefully he'll settle again. If he doesn't, I'll have to hope for better luck than you with forking out for a

good luck with family daycare, or indeed any daycare. a minefield to be sure. and remember, any time away from baby isn't self-indulgence or neglect, it's refreshing yourself to be a better parent when you get them back again ;) convenient for me to say, of course - but most definitely true!
