Obama, surgery and life

I've been heavily contemplating the last few days especially since I had sugery the day after the election. It's really neat to see the US with a "black" president. I've been thinking a lot about having a "black" president and why I never thought it would happen in my lifetime, either. I think it is because people did not want someone like Jesse Jackson as president. Perhaps people just needed to see that there actually are some really great Americans out there...who just happen to have a different skin color from the "norm" so far in presidential history. Honestly, when Obama first started popping up on the news, I didn't even notice that he was black. He wasn't about that. He was all about creating a change so our country could go forward. It took Nick even longer to realize it...LOL. I mentioned something about that Obama was going to have an uphill battle b/c he is black. Nick looked at me in shock and said "He is?!". Anyway, now that I look back, I don't think the majority really had a problem with the color of their president (well, at least 53% of them anyway). I think it was that we all want someone who is going to represent EVERY one...and not just one specific race. It is ( ... )
