I should have done this on the 10th but I was much too tired. And I didn't do it yesterday because I was just too lazy. >______>
So...on the 10th, I got part of my 16th birthday present!! It was the greatest thing in the world! X ]
So, when I figured out that Depeche Mode were going on tour to promote their newest album,I just knew I would HAVE to go see my favorite band. Ya know, I may not get another chance to see them so naturally, I begged my mom to get me tickets as part of my 16th birthday present. She said it would be fun and she was actually the one who said I may not get another chance to see them so she bought some tickets, just for me and her.
Well, I actually had to pay 40 bucks of my own money but it was worth it, and I got it back anyway... $145 for tickets...about $57 for each one, plus service charges and such...And once I actually had the tickets in my hand I don't think I could breather for a few seconds, my heart may have skipped a beat or two as well. XD And I had the tickets 4 months before the concert, I was really scared they were gonna sell out. Then I would've been saaaaaaaaaaad...
So August 10th rolls around quicker than I thought it would and I just couldn't sleep the night before. I'm not sure if it was excitement that wasn't showing or just my uncomfortable mattress. Eventually I fell asleep about...6 o' clock in the morning. Slept til 11 that morning before quickly getting ready. As soon as my mom was ready, we set off. With a quick stop at the Post Office and Wal-Mart to get the rent paid.
THEN, we were off the Seattle.
We drove all the way to Bremerton so we could ride the big ferry across the water. It's one of those big ones that carries cars across the water. It takes about 45 minutes and it's a little chilly but it's just so beautiful. And it was a little quicker than driving. about 45 minutes cut off having to drive.
As soon as we got to Seattle, we got off the ferry and...we kinda got lost. I wrote down the wrong directions (kinda, I wrote them from the street I thought the ferry was dropping us off at...) So we just drove around looking for the Westlake Center to waste some time, we drove by it twice before realizing where it was...XD I can be so dumb sometimes...
I had about 80 dollars to spend at the Westlake Center because my dad sent me a giftcard two years ago and...I could only spend it at certain places. So, the WLC was the closest place. The place was packed full of teenage girls. Why? There were these two bands that were at the Hot Topic there, Stereo Skyline and Hey Monday. I'd never heard of them but the Hot Topic was closed off because of that. Sad, really was.
So instead we went to FYE and checked out some stuff there. It was REALLY expensive, they wanted $26 for a CD. I don't think so. So I ended up buying some Japanese fruit gummies and some Crackheads (which are delicious chocolate-covered coffee beans. om nom nom). We hadn't eaten before we left the house so we went up to the Food Court and gosh, I've never had such delicious food court food in my life!! I had this bourbon chicken from a Cajun place. It would've been worth getting sick if I was going to.
After I realized I was going to need a disposable camera, we had to go back to FYE and grab one, also my mom wanted some of those gummies because they were just fantastic. XD. I was so mad I forgot to bring the regular camera. ;____;
After that, we went into a Japanese store called 'Daiso" and they had some really cool thing in there. I got a little stuffed lion that was just too adorable to pass up. It looks like a little hedgehog! >w< and some origiri molders for Sierra but she doesn't know it yet. Everything was super cheep in there.
Finally, after looking around in there for a while , the Hot Topic was open! I could get what I came there for.
I got myself a nice skirt, some suspenders, a Boondock Saints button and some neon green zebra stripe knee-high socks.
It was now 7 o' clock when we finished there so we needed to head off to the Key Arena. We were gonna take the Monorail but I had some stuff I didn't feel like carrying it to the concert. Good thing we went back to the van or we would've been stuck in Seattle for the night with nowhere to stay or go.
...And we got a little lost again because I can't read a map. XD
The Key Arena actually had it's own parking so we only paid 10 bucks. That' pretty goooooood...
Now walking to the Arena it was 7:40 because we had to fight with the machine that you paid for parking with.
We got there and they hardly searched us. They didn't touch me and hardly searched my mom's purse. I actually got a camera into this place, unlike the Phillips Arena in Georgia...
I felt so out of place, everyone else was so much older. There were a few young people but I was one of the few. I understand though, I like an older 80's band. AND I AM PROUD. XD
Instead of watching the opening act, which was Peter, Bjorn, and John, we waited in line to buy a t-shirt. If we didn't do it during the opening, I wouldn't have got one. I wasn't going to miss any of Depeche Mode. I got one t-shirt because it was $40. My mom bought it for me so like I said, I got the money I paid for the tickets back.
We could finally go sit down. The security was really wanted you in your seats but...we ended up moving up a bit after about 5 songs.
...My seats were just awful. We were as high as you could get in this arena. Not joke. We were up at the very top. But like I said, we moved up a bit. ^___^
So I sat in my original seat through:
- In Chains
- Wrong
- Hole To Feed
- Walking In My Shoes
I only moved because my mom moved up to the stairs to get pictures so I went back with here after she came up to tell me how much better she could see. I was so distracted by the girl with the iPhone in front of me I could focus on the stage so I had to go with her. XD
So I stood up the rest of the show above the stair entrance. I could see it all.
So they went on with...
- It's No Good
- A Question Of Time
- Precious
- Fly On The Windscreen (I think I lost a few braincells from the major sexiness in the song. XD There was this little mic stand slide and I just...I dunno what happened for a second.)
- Jezebel
- Little Soul
- A Question Of lust
- Home
- Come Back
- Mile Away/The Truth Is
- Policy Of Truth
- In Your Room
- I Feel You
- Enjoy The Silence
- Never Let Me Down Again
They left the stage after this and everyone just...screamed and clapped and ya know. Until they came out for an encore. (wooo!)
And played...Stripped, Master and Servant, and Strangelove.
Then left again. And came out for one more encore!!
Then played Personal Jesus and Waiting For The Night.
It was amazing really, especially the songs sung by Martin Gore. He just sounds better live than on CD. Just one of those people.
We got out at about 11 and drove all the way home. We got home at about 2:45 and...yeah.
It was just the greatest experience of my life. I really hope I'll get to see them again sometime.
I'll upload some pictures when I get my camera developed.
Yup.
