My home office computer is having trouble, but a Symantec person said he'd call today at 1:00, so I held off doing anything new to it. Of course, he did not call. I've tried something else with it--reinstalling some of the software installed in the problem period--and it *might* be okay. Maybe. For a while.

If it's still giving me the BSoD next week, I may give you a call. Reinstalling the OS shouldn't be so scary to me, but right now it is. I mean, isn't it really bad when your PC bluescreens trying to get into Safe Mode?

Yes. Yes, that is bad. That might even be hardware-bad rather than software-bad.

Oh, dear. What kind of hardware problems? The PC's pretty much new. The problems started when two things happened at once: Installing Norton Ghost and installing an upgrade of Spy Sweeper. Even doing System Restore has become difficult, so I'm inclined to blame Ghost.

Well, I'll see if I can get it to limp along for another week. This PC was built by a friend, so there's no warranty or anything. If you do have any more ideas, though, I'm all ears.
