Sounds of adolescence

This christmas my niece is getting an MP3 player. I am in charge of filling it for her... or at least giving her some music. She's 12. Right about the age where music starts being important.

At first I was wondering if it was worth it or if most of the clash would be over her head. I mean, she's not a particularly political 12 year old. Then I realized I was being an asshole and that it was shitty of me to underestimate her like that and it was small minded of me to not think that early exposure to Joe Strummer could be part of forming her future political views. And yeah, even if she doesn't get Washington Bullets, she'll still dance to it and some day, she might start to think about it. The Clash is part of the basic recipe for an awesome person, I think :D
