Midnight Stroll

She walked through the almost empty campus, eyes glazing over the floating laughter of swaying figures littered around. That sly Fox who sat upon her heart stroked at its core, tugging and twisting its strings into excruciating knots. She thought she was going to faint. The Fox smiled as it untied the knots and smoothened the wrinkled flesh. Go die, she hissed, go fucking burn in Hell. A violent breeze shook through the trees and constricted around her trembling frame. You poor child, such poor pathetic child. One last squeeze, and it vanished, leaving a lingering coldness on her skin as if to mock the heat of the Fox she felt inside.

"Thanks! I know!" She screamed, but to her building disappointment, she received no reply. Alone, once again, she was left alone with the demon Fox nestled within her heart. It kept her heart warm, so maybe that was why she let it stay despite the scabs and newly developing scars decorating her heart. Masochistic was the word that crept into her mind whenever she took these midnight strolls. Why did she keep stabbing thorns into the tender flesh, and why did she allow such detestable being to warm her heart?

"Yo!" She turned to the interrupting voice which revealed itself to be her friend, "You're gonna get raped walking alone like that!" She smiled at her friend as she trotted to her side.

"Thanks, I know." She grinned, her voice slathered in grateful sarcasm. The fox slithered away; in the warm night, she shivered.
