Thank you,Lexin. It was quite a challenge to write about all this pathos and still maintain Lightoller's British understatement. I think it works better that way, though.

And now for the truly unbelievable part of the escape and survival.

Thank you -- I've watched A Night to Remember so many times that the scenes at the lifeboats almost seemed old hat to me. I tried to make them fresh, and I hope I succeeded.

Damn, that literally gave me chills. Although, I do agree with Thranduil rather than Lightoller about the boy.

You know, it's interesting -- the part with Ryerson and his son is something Lightoller chose to omit from his memoirs. He was a man of his times, but some of his ideas seem a little too strict today.
