I'm not sure which part of this chapter is the saddest, both are heart-breaking. Yet, part of me wants to slap both of them upside the head and tell them to talk to each other. They need each other so much, they are hurting so badly and it's only going to get worse the longer they don't speak about it.
I love this line! Not for the first time, she shook her head, wondering why it was that a grown man needed someone to dress him and do his hair.
I also liked the reference to the spider web and how soft it is, knowing that it will someday be used for silk. :)
The creeping in secret to catch a peek at Amon Lanc echoes/foreshadows an incident in my very first story in which Legolas did the same thing, had the same reaction, and was grounded to library duty for ten years when Thranduil found out about it. Dad ought to know what a risky stunt that was. LOL
*nods earnestly* Thanduil really needs to watch more Dr. Phil. But I get the feeling he's always going to be one of those men who holds it all in. And then he drinks. LOL
