25 random things about me. Shamelessly thiefed from
cloverest.
1. Common foods that I could easily do without: caramel and mashed potatoes.
2. I wear my watch on my left wrist. I don't do it because it's more comfortable. I started when I was in college because when I was growing up, people always used to tell me I was weird for wearing a watch on my right wrist. And I'm a little bit ashamed.
3. Whenever people can't remember something I said, I talk to them less because I suspect I'm bothering them.
4. I think I'm better at things I don't like to do.
5. I don't like discussing race with people of my own race because I tend to feel differently about the basic principles than they do.
Example: I don't think it is acceptable to demand business from the First Lady simply because she shares a similar heritage with you. 6. I hold onto things. I rarely forgive, and I don't forget. I don't fully trust anybody, but then, I don't see why I should.
7. I don't believe that life is by default better than death.
8. I don't socialize much outside of work because I think if people got to know me, they wouldn't like me.
9. If I wrote a book, I'd use a pseudonym for two reasons -- I think that if people knew me and my race it would color their view, and I think that if my father knew I'd gotten a book published he'd take it as a sign that he must have been a good parent.
10. I'd like to be able to play at least one song by memory on the piano.
11. My favorite college experience was when I was got depressed and cashed in my four free counseling visits and I got to take a Rorschach test and an MMPI.
12. When I was in college, I stopped going to therapy because I felt like the therapists were getting annoyed with me, and I stopped taking the Zoloft because it stopped working and my mom kept telling me she hoped I'd get better soon because it was expensive.
13. I've been reliant upon caffeine since I was 14, and I wonder what I'm like decaffeinated. Who would I be if I were to cleanse my body of all caffeine and get over my caffeine addiction? How would I behave? I suspect I'm not very nice.
14. I sometimes find myself dressing all in blue and feeling self-conscious about it when I notice later.
15. I frequently develop crushes on fictional characters.
16. If God has a plan and he gave man free will, I don't think anyone can really know when something happens which it results from. And I don't believe that God loves everyone, similarly to how I believe that fathers don't love all their children equally. I think I'm a product of my parents' free will and that God largely ignores me.
17. I kind of like the smell of skunks and gasoline.
18. I've never broken a bone, but when I was three years old, I knocked out my four front teeth and had to wear false teeth for three years.
19. I love buying purses.
20. I like Diet Coke better than regular Coke, and I like regular Pepsi better than Diet Pepsi, and I hate when I go to a restaurant and order a Diet Coke or Pepsi and the server brings me a Diet Pepsi or regular Coke without asking me if it's an acceptable substitute. That is an automatic tip reduction.
21. I think it's rude to tip 15% on a ticket that's less than $20 when you received good service. It wasn't even worth it for the server to come to the table for that.
22. I compartmentalize. I have different friends for my different interests, for the most part. As such, I don't really have any secrets, but nobody knows everything about me.
23. When I get really angry, I cry, and I hate it. When I was living at home, my father used to try to upset me when he was upset to make himself feel better, and that's how he knew it was working.
24. I was a bit too mature to be a proper child, and I'm a bit too juvenile to be a proper adult.
25. I don't ever want to have kids because I'm much too much like my father for their own good.
