If you haven't read it already, read Dmitri Nabokov's scathing intro to the Pia What'sherface work Lo's Diary, which addresses many of these issues. I have more to say, but will find my words after work is done.

Oh, no. No, no, no, no. Twilight has not been around long enough to be considered ingrained in popular culture. I've often pondered the question of when intellectual property can be abstracted to that point and it's a pretty difficult subject, but I think without a doubt in most cases it should be something old enough that the original creator is deceased ( ... )
