"I never loved you."

Those words that came out of her mouth repeated in Jungsoo’s mind like a broken tape. He had sworn not to cry but it was all too much for him to bear. He didn’t know if he should be sad because after three long years of being together, she dumped him for another man; or happy that he’s finally free and available to love one more time. Apparently, he’s too hurt to try the latter. Gulping down another bottle of alcohol, which is probably his sixth, he let out a weak smile. The famous Super Junior leader, Leeteuk, was nowhere to be found; there’s just an ordinary heartbroken Park Jungsoo who only knows how to drink all his agony away.

"I'm telling you, Teukie, that trainee is no good. She’s like the type who will cling onto you for a moment then leave for some other guy. We're celebrities. The girl needs fame and you have that."

Jungsoo suddenly recalled what Kim Heechul said from one of their conversations. He just laughed it off at that time since Heechul is his friend but if it was some random guy; he might have sent one hard punch for insulting his girlfriend, or shall he say, ex-girlfriend. However, Chul wasn’t the only member that told him that. In fact, almost everyone did. They labeled him desperate but he was too in love to care. The only thing that matters to him then was for her girl to be beside him no matter what. As greasy as it may sound, Leeteuk was too blinded by love; that he seemed to have forgotten, Heechul was known for his word. The guy is always right.

A short chuckle escaped his lips. If only he had listened to his members then maybe he would be spared from the pain he’s suffering now.

He sighed. Everyone seems to be leaving him; Kangin, Hankyung, and now, her. Although he tried his best to give them his all, they still left him. Were they unsatisfied? Was he a useless leader, often oblivious of his members’ hardships? Was he a bad boyfriend, too busy to spend time with his partner? It was then he thought, maybe, just maybe he’s not really worth being loved at all.

Unknowingly, tears flowed out of his elegant orbs, blurring his vision. He was grateful that the dorm was empty so no one could possibly witness his vulnerability. He doesn’t want to be seen in his current state, hopeless and miserable. Even just for one day, he would like to be normal and let out his emotions without worrying about people and cameras standing by to watch his every action. The cheerful angel, Leeteuk, will be gone for a while; no goofy entertainment for the meantime.

Like a mad man, he began trashing things that he could get hold of. Vases, picture frames, the telephone, CDs, DVDs, mirrors, and even the bottles of the alcohol that he had drank. Jungsoo cried harder, thinking that it will help lessen his burden. Gradually, his head was getting dizzy with each sob as his eyes started to wander around. He tried to stand up, his hand constantly searching for something to hold on for support. It was no use. He couldn’t handle it on his own.

He was falling apart. He couldn’t control himself anymore. He can almost see his career and his life being torn into pieces.

Jungsoo fell on his knees, yet struggling to stay awake. Panting hard, he rested his hands on the floor. He couldn’t keep up though. He drank a lot more than he usually does considering that his alcohol tolerance dropped a few levels.

Soon enough, he just let his whole body lay on the cold ground with all those mess. He languidly stared straight at the ceiling and closed his eyes. The last thing he remembered was the door clicking open as he drifted off into a deep slumber.

“Don’t poke his face. You’ll wake him up!”

“I’m worried.”

“Hey, can you get my bag on the couch?”

“This one?”

“That’s mine!”

“Get the other one!”

“Wait, I think hyung is moving.”

“He’s supposed to do that. He’s still alive, you moron.”

“Look, I think he’s waking up!”

The noise that the voices are making woke Jungsoo up so suddenly. He fluttered his eyes open only to be welcomed by, god he doesn’t know how many, faces scanning his own. It took a while before he completely recognized that they were his members. He looked around, trying to make a guess on where he is but he just couldn’t put a finger on anything. He couldn’t dwell upon what had happened. Nothing makes sense.

Kyuhyun must have noticed the confused look on their leader’s face so he volunteered to explain it to him. “Hyung, you’re in the hospital. You-“

“Do you know how worried I was after seeing you lying on the floor with large cuts on your body? I swear you scared the life out of me. For a second there, I thought you committed suicide. I panicked so much that I couldn’t even remember how I managed to carry you.” Heechul interrupted; severe anxiety was evident in his voice.

Heechul could go on with the scolding if only Ryeowook didn’t butt in. “Hyung, how do you feel now? The doctor said you were over fatigued so he gave you a sedative, making you sleep for three whole days. I predicted that you’ll be hungry so I specially prepared something for you to eat.”

“You know, hyung, Donghae cried a lot for you. He didn’t finish his schedule just to rush here in the hospital. We ordered him to go home and rest but he insisted on watching you. Good thing he agreed to sleep after our manager threatened him.” Eunhyuk informed him and pointed a sleeping guy on the couch. Hae’s eyes were puffy and a bit swollen that anyone could easily tell the he had gone from massive crying.

Jungsoo then remembered everything. He immediately felt guilty. It wasn’t his intention to worry them.

“Oh, come on, guys. It’s not like I’m going to die, right? I just got drunk, that’s all.” He managed to remark with a bit difficulty. Jungsoo even faked a smile.

“Enough with the strong act, Teuk; we all know it’s been too hard on you.” Heechul told him rather rudely. Jungsoo cringed. He couldn’t stand the I-told-you-so expression on Heechul’s face.

“I’m fine. A bit more rest then I’ll be good to go. Besides, I have to clean up the mess I made. Three days is already too long for me to be gone. But then again, I’m sure you did well while I’m here,” Jungsoo tried to convince them that he is alright despite the fact that everyone already knows what he’s currently into.

“What are you saying, hyung? The manager put Heechul-Hyung in charge. Trust me; he was a terrible substitute leader,” Sungmin responded with the last words barely audible since he was being careful not to be heard by the subject of his sentence.

“I am not!” Blessed with good senses, Heechul was able to hear it.

“Yes, you are!” Sungmin retorted as he faced the older guy. Then, he started enumerating for everybody to hear. “You don’t put us to bed like Leeteuk-hyung always does. You don’t make sure if we’ve eaten our meals or if we’ve gotten to our schedule safely. You can’t make Kyuhyun stop playing his games, which I have to say is very loud that I’m not able to get some sleep. You don’t remind us of things we usually forget. Most importantly, we can’t have those deep conversations with you. You just go straight to your room, not caring about how we were doing.”

“Stop it, Sungmin.” Jungsoo uttered. Heechul’s face wasn’t so good anymore and he couldn’t imagine what the man would do if he loses his patience. The others were eerily quiet, probably trying to avoid the increasing tension in the room. “It was only for three days. Likewise, it was too sudden. I’m certain that Hee was caught off-guard.”

There was a long pause before Heechul responded. “It’s alright. I have to admit, I’m not fit to be a leader. It is totally different without you.”

Jungsoo sighed. “I’m sorry. I was irresponsible.”

“Don’t say that, hyung. It’s not your fault. If you keep on thinking like that then your condition will worsen.” Ryeowook gently touched his shoulder. He smiled in return, thankful for his dongsaeng’s concern.

“By the-“

“HYUNG!” Eunhyuk was about to say something but got cut off by Donghae’s loud and, not to mention, very worried voice. All the noise probably woke him up as well. The members made way for him as he rushed to Jungsoo’s side.

Donghae held his hand. Jungsoo’s face softened seeing the tears threatening to fall out from the younger guy’s eyes. “Hyung, are you alright? Are you hurt? Don’t ever do that again, ok? I-I thought we were going to lose you. I was so scared, hyung.”

“I’m ok now, see? So stop crying or I’ll quit Super Junior.” Leeteuk chuckled softly and ruffled Donghae’s hair.

Hae’s eyes widened and immediately wiped his tears. “You’ll do that?!”

“No.” Teuk responded quickly that made his dongsaeng sigh in relief. “Even if you guys force me, I will never quit Super Junior. I, instead, will force myself to you until you accept me.”

“Who’s forcing who?” Shindong entered the room with a basket of fruits in his hands. He went to a table at the corner and placed it there.

“Oh, hyung is awake!” Siwon , who was trailing behind him and carrying plastic bags filled with food, exclaimed.

“Hyung is awake? Let me check!” Yesung ran in and shove everyone on the way. The room was starting to get really crowded. He raised his index finger with a smirk then slowly moved it towards the leader’s lips.

Jungsoo moved his face when he realized what the vocalist would do. He gathered all his energy and shouted. “Ya, Kim Jongwoon! Don’t you dare touch my philtrum or I’ll throw your turtles away as soon as I get out of this hospital!”

“Ok, he’s fine!” Yesung happily announced as he removed his finger. They laughed at the two.

“Hey, guys! Sorry we’re late. These two are so noisy. I couldn’t concentrate on driving.” Everyone turned their heads to the door and saw Kibum walking in. But, what surprised them more was the appearance of the two men who seems to be arguing behind him. Kibum grabbed a magazine to read and casually sat on the couch. Leeteuk froze. They came. Those three that are always missing, those three that he always mentions in shows, those three that he missed the most; they really came.

“Why are you forcing me to enter the military? I’m not even Korean!” The older guy complained.

“Hyung, it’s really good there. You’ll like it.” The other one replied.

“I said I don’t want to. Don’t be stubborn, Youngwoon.”

“But, hyung!”

“I said no! Why won’t you give up? You entered the military then you’re looking for someone to join you. Go find somebody else. ”

“Really, Hankyung-hyung, you’re the perfect guy to be in the military. Look at those muscles. See? You’ll do well in there!”

“Ya, why are you so noisy?! If you two are going to keep that up then get out of my room! Now!” Jungsoo yelled. Heechul stifled a laugh after he saw the shocked expressions of the two new visitors.

Kangin was the first one to come back to his senses. He flashed a wide grin then went nearer to Leeteuk. The leader gulped. “Hyung, making us go out after we did all we can to come here, isn’t that too harsh? And why do you seem to have a lot of energy today despite your condition? Is it because you saw me again? Admit it. You missed me, right?”

“Tch. You’re so full of yourself. How in the world did you manage to come here anyway?” Jungsoo asked curiously. His lips unknowingly curved into a smile. Kangin was still as mischievous as he remembered.

“Heechul told me you were sent in the hospital so I asked the main office if I can visit you. They agreed so easily. Well, who can resist the charms of Korea’s number one handsome guy?” Kangin remarked.

“And you?” Teuk turned to Hankyung.

“I cancelled all my activities in China to visit you. I also thought that maybe it’s time for a little reunion. I just arrived this morning. Kibum and Kangin picked me up from the airport.” The Chinese member explained.

“Wait. Is it just me or your Korean had gotten a lot better?” Jungsoo commented.

Hankyung smiled. “I practiced because I was still hoping that I could go back as a Super Junior member someday. I missed being led by you. You know, I was really worried that you’ll blame yourself for my decision. It’s not because you didn’t treat me well. I know you’re busy but I still feel that you care for me. You know you’re the best leader ever so always take care of yourself and stop worrying our dongsaengs.”

“You never left, Hankyung. You’ll always be a Super Junior member.” Leeteuk uttered and felt hot liquid flowing down his cheeks.

“Hyung, don’t cry.” Donghae said.

“N-no. There’s just something in my eyes.”

Jungsoo felt a pair of soft arms wrap around him.

“Pabo.” Kangin whispered and hugged him tighter, filling his heart with warmth.

Jungsoo couldn’t ask for anything more. They were complete at that day, all thirteen of them. Now, who needs a girlfriend when you have this bunch of dorky and caring friends, better yet, brothers? Like how the saying goes, after sadness comes an equal amount of happiness. For him, it was so much more.
