I love it when the infant Mer'deth tries the "Bow to me! I am your GOD" line and Rodney promptly administers a verbal slap-down - he sounds like my mother!
In a weird way, this can be read as kidfic, with Rodney adopting an infant and raising it as a single parent, then handing it over to John to care for when his own death is imminent. When Rodney turns up alive after all, John gives the "kid" back to him, but finds he misses being a "parent" - a problem that's resolved when Rodney suggests joint custody.
Now just add in the minor detail that the "kid" in question is a Goa'uld...
...Not to mention that the sex would become kind of incestuous, unfortunately.
Which isn't to say that I don't get what you mean, and it is a very interesting idea. I actually had more than a few moments wondering if the story wasn't bizarrely incestuous anyway, given that Mer'deth was very young, and then I decided that he definitely hadn't been a kid when lavvyan wrote the original story about him, so I didn't have to worry about it. :)

If we're going to worry about incest, are we also going to worry about whether the crossing of species lines constitutes bestiality if both species are intelligent? :-)
