(bugger: it ate my quite detailed reply!)

I'd say start at about US$450 - the value is very much dependent on whether someone else wants the same mods you've done: the SD pickup is a good idea, the TunoMatic and blocked trem will be a turn-off for many. Does it have a hard case? Add $50 or so. Do you still have the original scratchplate etc? Late 90s MIJs have a poor rep: basswood bodies, poorer finishes than other reissues etc.

other than the original nut (which i've lost) the only modification that isn't 'reversable' as such is the tuners, which unfortunately had to reamed out a touch. i didn't really want to do that to be honest, to the point where i was even seriously considering swapping the neck out for a strat neck so i could keep the jm neck intact... the tuners really were ruined though, and replacing them with vintage style tuners seemed like a false economy to me as i knew i'd probably ruin them again ( ... )

"buzz-stop adapter for the bridge"
how does that work for you?

If I were in the parket for a japanese JM I would not pay more than $300 for one used. I got mine new from musiciansfriend for $399 so I wouldn't feel right paying more for a used one.

i really like the buzzstop. i've had so much trouble with bridges on the thing that i feel that it's the perfect solution. prior to getting it, i've had the neck shimmed & swapped from the jm bridge to a mustang, and would still pop strings off the saddles during gigs. ultimately, i really should have just bought a les paul, as tonally and playability wise that's probably a little closer to my ideal (although ironicly i play this more than my les paul, so go figure ( ... )
