And the saddest part about it is that I'm frequently disappointed with what the government chooses to spend that much money on. I'm not the sort who gets my shorts in a knot about government spending in general, provided I believe we're doing necessary and beneficial things with the tax revenues.
But rather than do things that I'd consider worthwhile, like...oh, making sure all our citizens have access to healthcare that isn't tied to their jobs or rebuilding New Orleans or making sure everybody can afford top quality education or meeting our national energy needs through environmentally safe and renewable sources we produce domestically....we piss the money away giving handouts to people who already have more money than they know what to do with or fighting a war that's killing thousands of our own people and tens of thousands in the nation we've occupied.
What pisses me off is not how fast they spend it, but what they choose to spend it on.
