How would you feel if someone told you, after coming out of anesthesia for a routine surgery, that medical students had performed a pelvic exam on you, without your consent, while you were unconscious?  That seems like a no-brainer - it's a pretty serious violation.

That article has seriously freaked me out.

This freaked me out and I WORK at a medical school. I do know that every student has to complete a hefty number of pelvic exams no matter what specialty they are heading for. Sickly, the required number makes more sense to me now. I wondered how they managed to get them in.

There really aren’t words. No one should be fondling anyone’s junk while they’re unconscious, with the only one exception: if the operation has something to do with the junk!

“Good news Mrs. Johnson, we were able to completely remove the lump from your neck, and it was completely benign. Oh, and Billy here gave you a pap smear, for luck.”

Or, can you imagine:

“Good news Mr. Johnson, we were able to safely remove the tumor form your left shoulder. On and Ham-fist here cave you prostate exam just for luck, as you can see he’s a big fella, you might be a little sore for a couple days.”

Of course, non of the women who were examined while they were unconscious were ever told about it, because they might, I don’t know, have a problem with it! It’s just so ludicrous that I have to make fun of it, or my head will explode.
