mirena is fantastic!veedubmonkeyJune 22 2008, 07:35:01 UTC
It hurts a bit for about a week after you get it and then its just kinda there. Ive had it for over 2 years now, so I think its in there for the long haul. Let me know if you have other questions! Sad to see you go, but glad you are happy!

did you notice a difference in your mood after getting it? I know it doesn't release any estrogen, but it does have progestrin (sp?). I don't do very well with other methods of hormonal birth control because the hormones make me a bit psycho. My doc said this probably wouldn't affect me, though.
Of course, I could be psycho anyway...without any hormones. :/

I didnt get super crazy... Although I was on the shot before. I know I was less crazy than I was with that. I have however been able to loose weight and not gain this time. Which is awesome. :)

Oh thats good to know. I think the reason I've been having a hard time losing weight is because of the BC. I've been eating sooo healthy and working out 1-2 hours a day. Its wack. Anyway, I have the appointment to have the thing installed the first week of next month. It sounds so funny to say that, lol.
Thanks for the tips. I'll be visiting soon (early aug). I'll hit you up when I come into town and hopefully we can hang out for a bit!
1) If at all possible use the copper IUD instead of the Mirena one. I have had it for a year and a half and it's like it's not even there. And it lasts ten years. There are no hormones in the copper one whereas Mirena does have hormones.
2) I am coming to Austin this weekend. I would very much like to see you. We always say we are going to do this, but we never do. Let's get it done!
Hey, I'm off Sunday and Monday, so if we can work something out for one of those days, I would LOVE it. I don't really have much planned other than running some lame errands, so its totally doable on my end. I would really like to hang out. Do you still have my number? It hasn't changed so if you have a number for me, its most likely the same one.
Oh, and my gyno told me that if I have heavy periods and heavy cramping that I shouldn't do the copper IUD because it might make them worse. Did you have that issue? I really am scared of the hormonal shit. It just makes me sooooo crazy. But yeah, lets talk more about it. I have 2 weeks till I have to decide.
