Chronicle Week 1 - Oct 31-Nov 6

Saturday
I went over to do a table-top HP game with some friends. It didn't last too long - I was groggy from one of my new meds - but we spent the rest of the day playing around and having fun. It was awesome getting together with a group that says to me "you're not you until you've made your first dirty joke".

Sunday
Watched NASCAR, then when my guy's engine blew, I went for a walk to run errands. Got back just in time to watch the replay of Ryan Newman's nasty bust-up - man I'm glad I wasn't him.

Monday
Went to the Byward Market and just walked around, and bought a couple of tiny cheap things at Giant Tiger (like a Ty Beanie Baby Dragon for $4). It was a nice, lovely day to be out, and I started remembering how it felt to discover it all when I first came to Ottawa 13 years ago (shit, that long!).

Tuesday
Slept most of the day because of new meds, but got together with my friend Daren at 9 to show him some of the bars/clubs where I used to go. Turns out most of them aren't what they used to be - been a loooooong time since I've been there ;) Well, we played some pool for an hour, then went exploring/walking at night along the Rideau Canal, and up to the point by the National Gallery where you can see all of Gatineau lit up at night. It was all so gorgeous. Why don't I do stuff like that anymore? I used to when I was younger, but then... life somehow got in the way, you know?

Wednesday
Just low key and laid back at home - maxin & relaxin.

Thursday
Went to see the Psychiatrist who told me to stop taking the 2 new meds and just keep taking the antidepressants. The other stuff was just to get me over the shaking/trembling I guess. We discussed the duration of my time off - he wanted me off till the new year, I said I should go back in December at least because I'll need to do up a meeting schedule for 2010, etc. We settled on December 7th, with me seeing him again the week before for a re-evaluation.

After that, I went to the used book store to try and find some books for my god-child (specific ones that aren't in print anymore), and found a couple that reminded me of when I was a little girl. Then I went to a tattoo parlour and almost got one right there and then (saw a really awesome one almost exactly like I've been imagining), but they didn't take credit cards. Then I went and bought a new hat (that I adore) for the fall/winter season. Then I went home, talked to my mother, who gave me the idea of looking into upcoming events just to see what's going on. So I did.

Friday
Went to the tattoo parlour closer to home - they were so much friendlier and professional at this place - and discussed a design for what will be my first ever tattoo. To symbolize where I am now, it'll be a fiery pheonix coming out of a sun, all in blue (my fav colour). The appointment is on Tuesday morning, and I'll be getting it on my ankle. I'm so proud of myself for going through with this - I've been wanting to for a long, long time.

Later, I bought a couple of books at Chapters, then I went to my old Uni to watch a play about a lesbian, her nagging mother, and android girlfriend - if there was ever a play for queer-friendly geeks, this was it!

    Things to come
  • Getting that tattoo!
  • I think I want to try playing an Open Stage Night, and ask some friends to come for support.
  • I want to try to make it at least once at one of hte Sunday Night ballroom things in the Glebe (never did before because I had to work the following morning).
  • I want to try and make it to a session at one of the Buddhist Centers where they have free meditation workshops.
  • I want to go to the spa and get a fucking professional massage, man!

If there are any suggestions, please feel free to post :D
