If any of you or someone you know who has worked in banks or have good knowledge of the bank business please respond to this, I have been having an issue with my bank and their ATM. Thanks!:)
What happened was a month ago I went to my bank's branch (Citizens Bank) and they had just closed 30 mins before. I decided to take out $40 from the ATM for gas and food for the week. Well the ATM never gave me the money, the machine made a sound but never opened up. Then it also did not give me a receipt of the transaction. So here I stood at the dead of night with no money or receipt. But of course the $40 was taken from my balance. I phoned the bank the next day (because the branch is at my parents house, an hour away) and they told me nothing was wrong with their machine and they were not over/under money. The guy assured me he would put a claim in to get my $40 back. Well, I never heard anything else and after a month I checked my balance and still no $40. I phoned the bank but they say there is no note about a claim and the guy that helped me is out until next week and he has the paperwork. My friend who worked at a bank and has a Masters in finance says thats BS and they just want to make it look like Im lieing. I know its "

Seems like there has to be some sort of recourse. I find it hard to believe that the machine wasn't short the next day. The bank I worked at for a while had to do checks on the machines several times a day. The tapes should have shown that there was a problem...even a problem with the receipts is noticeable when you are inside the machines servicing them. I would do some research and see what can be done. Did you try talking to a bank manager? Hope you are able to work this out. These things can be frustrating.
