Pros and cons

Nov 10, 2011 21:40

Went to my first meeting of the running club I joined. Good times and free pizza. And then since the NYC Marathon was this weekend and some of them ran, people shared their marathon stories!

When I got to introduce myself I was like HI I AM JAINA AND I AM THE SLOWEST SHORTEST-DISTANCE RUNNER EVERRRRR.

It was kind of inspiring, though.

That's so cool you did that!

But slowest shortest-distance runner ever? Uh, don't talk the talk if you don't run the run, honey. You and I should have a "race" sometime, ha ha. I bet I out-slow you, me of the 25-minute-mile.

I'm pretty sure there are speed-walkers out there who can beat me when I'm "running."

I admit to having some starry-eyed dreams of the NYC marathon now, but I think I should settle for working up to my first half-marathon...for now.

that is so cool! Some of LA friends got into that and did half-marathons. I was pregnant at the time so I couldn't join in. :(

I bet you could at least get up to a 5k. The Couch to 5k program is like WIZARDRY.

I have to get my ass in gear and do that Couch to 5K program, because I really want to run one with you.

Do it! It's totally worth it. And I couldn't practice run with you all the time, obvs, but I'd totally pop down now and then if companionship helps.

That sounds awesome! I'm going to walk, mostly, a 5K on Thanksgiving day, but hubby's been running and I'm really curious to see what his time is.

Free pizza at a running club? Sounds a bit counter-intuitive :|a

(BTW, is it OK if I snag "Hair of the Dog" and "Of Bunnies and Men" for the last two books? ^^;)
