Panasonic Lumix FZ-18 is still my first choice. It's a semi-pro.

All the compact cameras I like are about the same price as it is, minus 20 to 50€ or so.
My top compact choice would be the Canon Digital Ixus 870 IS.

I'm still a bit unsure of whether my use of it will justify the buy, but even my dad says that given the price difference and since he won't buy another camera to me before another few years (XD), I should go with what will give me more options.

So I'm leaning to semi-pro.

There's the upgrade version of the Panasonic that is on sale now, the FZ-28, which is about the same price. I'm debating whether it is any better than the FZ-18.

My dad also bookmarked the Canon G9 for me (expensive compact), NIKON D40 (which is a reflex I think o_O), and Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 (compact equivalent of the one I'm ogling basically).

Gaaaaah.
Too many choices.
I've been looking through descriptions, forums and shit for the last few days and I think I just need to stop and take the damn first one I saw XDDDD
