So there's apparently some huge drama on LJ over the fact that Six Apart has put the smack down on slash fic involving minors. No more Harry Potter and Severus Snape slash (who knew there was such a thing - I must be sheltered ( Read more... )

I bet LJ employees can read it. Sort of how like customers couldn't get into my office at the 'Hole, but the store team leader could. I'm just guessing.

But that would contradict their stated 'we aren't actively searching for it, someone must tell us about it' policy. If any ol' LJ employee can access my private entries just b/c they're curious, I'm not happy. Hopefully I'm not being naive, but I'm gonna pretend they can't.

Yah, I'm not too worried about the whole thing. It's more the 1st amendment thing that gets me. Anytime someone starts to censor fiction, I get a little worried. I just didn't know how many folks knew about this and I know some of our mutual LJers are into slash (though I don't know what types) so I thought I'd post it. There's an LJ by bad_wolf_bitch that gets a bit political about the whole thing. I'm trying to cut down on drama, but I think I'll keep a little watch on this issue. One LJer raised the issue that breastfeeding a baby qualifies under the "banned items". Sigh. We'll see.

P.S. Did you see the spotlighted "diy stuff" LJ? All sorts of crafty folk sharing tips 'n' such. The font/color takes some getting used to though.

The advice I've been giving my fanfic friends is to friends-lock questionable posts and limit access to people you know. My thing is, even if the fanfic people leave in protest, it's not going to matter to 6A. All of the blogging groups are under fire at the moment for "harboring pedophiles" and the like, and they're coming down hard on anyone who might be encouraging harm to children. All people have to do is squawk "child porn" and people freak out, so...yeah, it'll blow over but in the meantime, anything people are unsure of should either be shared with friends via email are posted under a special filter.

Hi there! jaiser August 22 2007, 21:36:53 UTC
And welcome to my LJ!

Finally done with the term! My last exam was this past Sunday. Cooley, in Lansing, goes year-round. On a good day I like it - though I'm seriously considering not practicing. On a bad day, it's like a Turkish prison - I can't believe I'm in and would do anything to get out.

I'm in a snarky phase regarding American "justice", so take my comments with a grain of salt. The experience of law school, though, is overall a good one. It gives one an amazing analytical skill and some mad research skillz, too.

Have you started classes yet?
