Doesn't 'get pissed' mean to get drunk on your side of the ocean? Means to get angry here... I think the saying makes more sense if you're using the 'get drunk' meaning. 'When in doubt, get drunk.' sounds a lot better (and more fun) than 'When in doubt, get angry.'

Yes, it means to get drunk. Although, it would be pretty freaky the other way. When in doubt, get really annoyed and throw a tantrum.
