So my iPod officially died. At first, I got the dreaded "sad iPod" graphic on it, then it stopped working altogether. So now I'm in a pickle. I have become hopelessly addicted to the concept of an MP3 player, but I don't want another iPod because of how unreliable they can be, but I don't want a Zune or anything like that, since those are usually ( Read more... )

wasn't it an iPod mini you had? it must have lasted you some time.

you can get an 80GB classic iPod nowadays for about $250 (they're significantly cheaper now ever since they came out with the iPod touch), and i believe that an 80GB Zune costs the same. but i say stick with what you know... it'll be a bitch to convert all those m4a files anyway.

I had the first generation video iPod, so yeah, it lasted me longer than most people I know.

250? Jesus, I'm lucky mine was a birthday present if that's the reduced price.

I have an RCA Opal. It's not that well known (I'm the only person I know that has one), but it's a really good player. I bought a brand-new 4GB one on E-bay for $50. I plays wma's and mp3's, so it's more versatile than iPod with what type of file you can play. You can record stuff with it too. The only problem I have is that if you want to listen to random songs, but want to start with one song in particular, you have to find the song you want, play it, and at the end of the song you have to hit play on "All Music." But it's not a big deal though. I have a picture of it on one of my past entries, in December, if you want to see what it looks like.

Oh yeah, and the battery on this thing lasts a really fucking long time, even when you have it completely filled with music.
