After watching the demise of ATWT and GL over the past 2 years, I'm feeling really bad for the regular AMC and OLTL fans out there with what just happened with their shows.
WORD WORD WORD to everything you said. We've already talked about it on Twitter, but you're right: networks execs were jerks who kept lying to the fans and the cast and crew of these shows, who didn't give a shit about them and were only interested in finding cheaper alternatives.
What Frons joked about wasn't nearly as bad as when Les Moonves was interviewed soon after ATWT was canceled and after the interviewer brought it up (someone who was related to one of the actresses on the show, I believe), he basically just smiled and laughed it off. Ass.
I've watched OLTL a little because of some former ATWT and GL actors I like on there, and now that it's canceled I'll probably watch until the end. I hope their ending will be way better than ATWT; even with JP there the writing is still much better than the last few years of ATWT IMHO. But that could very well change. Hopefully it doesn't.
I read that apparently the other head writer on OLTL who was there longer (can't remember his name atm) still has more clout than she does; for the OLTL fans that's definitely a good thing.
and oh yes, I couldn't believe that Les Moonves said that. The guy was Marie Masters' son-in-law, I believe. It's even one thing in itself to cancel these shows, but the coldness behind these decisions is all the more appalling.
