Always Hold On to Smallville

So I've been having a massive Smallville catch-up marathon for the past two weeks so I could watch the last two episodes of the show live last night. And for once, my CW affiliate's digital signal here wasn't massively screwing up. Yay!

I'll admit, I was a regular viewer for a while and watched religiously in the first few years, but my interest in it kind of waned. Then Ugly Betty debuted and I kind of switched over to it Thursdays at 8 and didn't look back for a while. Even after Ugly Betty was moved and then canceled, when Smallville was moved to Fridays I had been meaning to catch up sooner but didn't manage to do so. And when I finally started my marathon, I totally got back into it, even with some of the obvious filler episodes from season 10, and it really started to hit me that I'm actually going to miss this show SO, SO much. OMG.

They made the Lois and Clark pairing here work really well, I think. I LOVED Erica Durance as Lois; she played the perfect amount of feisty, comedic, fierce, and awesome. I'm also glad that John Glover, Annette O'Toole, Michael Rosenbaum and John Schneider have made appearances and were all there in the finale. I really missed Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor in the final years. I was also overjoyed to see Aaron Ashmore as well towards the finish. I didn't even notice his name on the credits, so it was a pleasant surprise for me. I was pretty upset when discovering they killed his character off, or what was *thought* to be Jimmy Olsen. Still shaking my head at that one.

Using John Williams' score at the end was a perfect choice. Looking back at it now, the only thing I'm really wondering the most is why they didn't show Lois and Clark actually marrying? Especially after all that happened in part one. Well, that, and no big shot of him in the actual Superman suit? Really? Other than that, I was satisfied.

I was in tears by the end. If this is a sign, I know I'm going to be a damn mess whenever Supernatural ends. LOL.

And I'm going to be shallow for a minute and say that I'm going to miss lusting over Tom Welling and Justin Hartley on a regular basis.

P.S.: I can't help but notice how ridiculously short the segments were and how many commercial breaks the CW put on this show when I was actually watching it live for the first time in years, which is one of the reasons why I prefer and enjoy high quality downloads.

smallville, awesomeness, series finale
