Well, I'm having one of those nostalgic moments. I was listening to the radio, and Can you feel the love tonight by Elton John came on. It affected me so because The Lion King was the last film I saw in a theater before going blind. I know it sounds sad, and it is, but when I listen to The Lion King soundtrack, it makes me feel good, and ( Read more... )

Take care sweetie, and I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who really likes The Lion King!

Firstly, kinda drunk, sorry.

Secondly, you're blind, but you still write in LJ AND are an English major? I have so much fucking respect for you now it's through the ROOF!!!! Good for you, man. That's incredible!

Thirdly, I'm, RIDICULOUS when I go to the theatres. I get a bucket of pocorn and have them butter and salt it HALFWAY through, and then when they fill it, add MORE BUTTER AND SALT! LOVE IT!

Have a good night, good luck bud!!!!

Well, thanks sailor, or should I say drunken sailor? lol I know it seems surreal, but you know when Milton wrote Paradise lost he was blind, and actually dictated it to his daughters, and they wrote it down. Well, thank goodness for technology because without it I would have to have people reading books to me although I use audio cds, and people do read them, but I don't have to go out and hire someone to do it.
I think we have similar taste in popcorn though yours sounds a little more out there...peace:)

Oh God, sorry about all that. That was the rum talking.

And now I'm curious: How do you update your journal then and read other entries? Do you have software you can talk to that tells you what things say and responds to your voice or something? Whatever it is, you do a damn good job, haha.

And we did Streetcar named Desire today in class. Urg. Tennessee Williams is a GOD where I'm from, but I was never really that into him. He's...really depressing. Talented, yes, but geez. And when you read it, you'll probably feel sorry for poor Blanche living in a world that no longer accepts her.

The rum was no problem...we should meet sometime, and have a drink or 2 (or 3 or...lol).
I use a nifty little technology called a screen reader, and basically it's a voice synthesizer, and every time I type a letter it says the letter, or if I want to hear the word I just typed, I hit the space bar, and it tells me, and I can go letter by letter, word by word, sentence by sentence...in short it helps me! I even use MSN messenger...if you want to chat sometime, my MSN address is ochaquefun@hotmail.com...you can actually tell all your friends that you chatted with a blind guy! lol
We haven't even touched Tennessee Williams, and I don't think we will as we just started Leslie Marnin Silko's Ceremony. It's pretty interesting so far. We do our research presentation on wednesday, then I have one more verbal response then the final the weekend of the 26th. Take care!
