Record for opening Weekend -- Dark Knight with $158,411,483. Spider-man 3 is 2nd at $151,116,516.

We had planned to see it tonight with 224215152 and hugeboozehound (who already had tickets and got in), and nalroth and skkyechan, but alas it was sold

Regardless...it had a great opening weekend.

So far, reviews of Dark Knight are very positive.

The general rule seems to be it's the 3rd movie in a series that fails to live up to expectations.

This does hold true for both Spider-Man, and X-men. Not so much Blade.

And for Star Wars...(at least the original trilogy). And the Alien saga.

LotR was an exception (the 3rd movie doing the best).
