The worst day of Kim Jongdae’s life is a Friday.
Baekhyun, Jongdae’s roommate, is out at a party with some of his other friends and Jongdae is alone at home, attempting to work on a report that’s due Monday and instead texting the cute guy named Kyungjoon from his Econ class. Things start with just a little small talk over the project they both should be doing, but that soon turns to flirting and soon enough that turns to something a little more scandalous.
FROM KYUNGJOON KIM
what r u wearing
Jongdae jumps up so fast he almost trips over the side table next to his bed in his haste to strip out of his sweatpants littered with holes and his ratty old t-shirt. He strips off his Naruto boxers-they were a gift-after a moment’s thought and then jumps back onto the bed. His heart is pounding loudly in his chest, veins thrumming with adrenaline. Jongdae’s never done something like this before, but Kyungjoon’s hot enough that he doesn’t really care to think it through right now.
He jumps back onto the bed, spends a few seconds trying to find a good position, and then snaps a couple of pictures. He giggles to himself as he looks them over. His hands are shaking slightly as he navigates his way back to his chat with Kyungjoon.

Jongdae sits back, satisfied, and waits for Kyungjoon’s response. It comes a few minutes later.
FROM KYUNGJOON KIM
r u still there?
Jongdae stares at his phone screen for a good few seconds before he scrolls back a little further in the chat. The message before Kyungjoon’s isn’t a text containing two nude pictures of Jongdae. It is Kyungjoon’s last text.
“Oh my god,” Jongdae says, frantically clicking out of his chat with Kyungjoon to check his recently sent messages. The last person he sent a message to was- “Oh my god, no. No. No.”
“No.”
“Yes,” Jongdae whines, burying his face into the arm of the couch.
Jongdae had apprehended Baekhyun as soon as he’d gotten back from his party. Jongdae clearly hadn’t thought it all the way through because Baekhyun’s only response is to lean his head back and cackle loudly for five minutes. Jongdae reaches out and slaps him on the thigh.
“Let me get this straight,” Baekhyun says, straightening up, but not before letting out a few more chuckles. “You sent nudes to the wrong number.”
“Yes,” Jongdae groans, slapping Baekhyun’s thigh again. They’ve been over this.
“You sent nudes to Do Kyungs-” Baekhyun starts, but he’s cackling again before he can even get it out, leaning over the side of the couch and slapping his knee with the force of it. He sits up again and wipes a tear from the corner of his eye. “Do Kyungsoo. And he never responded?”
Jongdae takes a deep breath and hangs his head. “Yes.”
“You’re a dead man,” Baekhyun says with one more laugh, clapping his hand against Jongdae’s back. “It was nice knowing you. I’ll be the best man at your funeral.”
“That isn’t-nevermind,” Jongdae says, shaking his head. “Kyungsoo can’t be that bad. Chanyeol likes him.”
Luckily for Jongdae, Do Kyungsoo is not a stranger. Kyungsoo is not some random guy who would probably report Jongdae for sending unsolicited nudes. In fact, Kyungsoo is actually Jongdae’s best friend’s roommate. Jongdae hangs out at Kyungsoo’s apartment all the time and hey, maybe they don’t talk and Jongdae rarely even sees him exit his room, but at least he knows the guy. In theory, Jongdae should be able to easily apologize and forget about the whole thing, maybe with just a little bit of embarrassment and humiliation.
In reality, Jongdae is terrified.
“Dude, Chanyeol is probably brainwashed. He gets to see Kyungsoo half-naked on a regular basis and you know what that does to him.”
“What do I do,” Jongdae whines, flopping over sideways on the couch and letting his head fall into Baekhyun’s lap.
Baekhyun starts to run his fingers gently through Jongdae’s hair in silence for a few minutes before he finally responds, “Want to get drunk?”
Jongdae nods.
Jongdae has always considered himself a friendly person. He’s always been one of those guys who ends up with five new friends on the first day of new classes, is always waving hi to other students on campus, is one of the first people his friends call when they have a problem or need someone to talk to. He likes people and thrives on conversation. So when Chanyeol had announced that he’d gotten a new roommate, Jongdae was excited. They could have a new friend for their weekly video game and nacho nights.
Meeting Do Kyungsoo was one of the hardest things Jongdae ever did. He shook his hand, greeted him like a normal person, listened to Chanyeol ramble on about how Kyungsoo was an accounting major and could cook and could sing and was cute, while Kyungsoo nodded along and glared in everyone’s direction. A few minutes later, Baekhyun made an ill-timed joke about the width of Kyungsoo’s shoulders and he stormed off.
The only times they’d spoken since then were when Jongdae passed him in the hallway on his way to bathroom while in Chanyeol’s apartment.
Jongdae has no idea what the hell he’s going to do on their Wednesday video game and nacho night this week.
By the time Wednesday rolls around, Jongdae still hasn’t gotten a response from Kyungsoo about the little mishap-or so he’s taken to calling it. He hasn’t exactly sent Kyungsoo anything either, like the apology or explanation that he probably should have. But if no one talks about it, Jongdae can almost kind of convince himself that Kyungsoo didn’t get the message and has not, in fact, seen pictures of Jongdae’s dick from various angles.
He almost decides not to even go to Chanyeol’s apartment for their usual video game night, but Baekhyun drags him along anyway, rambling something about bro code and betrayal and this will be hilarious.
Jongdae makes sure to carry a six pack of beer with him because tonight he’s going to have to talk to Do Kyungsoo.
When Chanyeol lets them into the apartment, Jongdae swivels his head back and forth a couple of times just to check that Kyungsoo's not in sight. He's been psyching himself up for his eventual run in with him all day, but now that's he actually in the apartment, he's not sure he can go through with the whole talking to Kyungsoo thing.
“You'll never believe what happened-” Baekhyun starts, but Jongdae stops him with a quick smack to the back of the head.
Baekhyun scowls, but Jongdae ignores it and smiles up at Chanyeol's confused face. “Baekhyun’s got a date, or something. It's not important," he says before making his way into Chanyeol's living room where his game console and a couple boxes of nachos from their favorite place are sitting. Jongdae sighs and drops himself onto the couch.
“You finally asked out that chick you've been creeping on? Congrats, man!” he hears Chanyeol say, still in the other room.
“No,” Baekhyun growls, and he can't see it, but he can pretty much guess what happens by the yelp that Chanyeol lets out.
At least, for now, Jongdae can enjoy something familiar.
The familiarity lasts for all of forty-five minutes.
Jongdae’s in the middle of a tense Super Smash Bros battle with Chanyeol when he hears the front door click open. He doesn’t think much of it, too immersed by trying to destroy Chanyeol’s character, until he hears Chanyeol let out a distracted, “hey.”
Jongdae looks up and his eyes meet Kyungsoo’s. He expects Kyungsoo to look away, laugh at him, yell at him, maybe blush and leave the room, but he only stares. Jongdae stares back, not even paying attention to the battle on the screen or Chanyeol’s cheering when he manages to take down Jongdae’s unresponsive character. Instead, he’s paying attention to Kyungsoo’s ruffled hair, Kyungsoo’s round-rim glasses, Kyungsoo’s black shirt and gray sweat shorts. Jongdae’s never seen him like this before-so casual.
They finally break eye contact when someone who sounds suspiciously like Baekhyun coughs loudly. Jongdae turns to glare at him, while Kyungsoo finally returns Chanyeol’s greeting.
“Want to join us?” Chanyeol says, even though he’s got a nacho shoved in his mouth and can barely get out the words. “We’ve got nachos!”
Please say no, please say no, please say no, Jongdae thinks. He’s not ready to talk about this, he’s not ready to face supreme embarrassment. But then again Kyungsoo’s never joined them before, so why would he-
“Sure,” Kyungsoo says with a shrug of his shoulders, dropping his bag on the floor and settling onto the chair that sits next to the couch.
Baekhyun and Chanyeol are both still sitting between them, but Jongdae swears he can feel the tension. He shivers and looks away. Maybe he won’t bring up that little mishap tonight. Or any night.
Thirty minutes pass and Jongdae has not yet been humiliated by Kyungsoo. In fact, Kyungsoo hasn’t said or done much of anything, much less mention their little mishap. He’s just sitting on the lounge chair next to couch and watching them play, occasionally eating a chip, and sometimes even laughing along to Chanyeol’s stupid jokes. Sometimes, Jongdae thinks he can feel Kyungsoo’s eyes watching him as he plays, but by the time he gets a moment to look, Kyungsoo’s looking another way.
Jongdae has, once again, managed to half convince himself that Kyungsoo never got the pictures. He’s acting completely normal, save for the fact that he’s actually hanging out with them instead of in his room. He wants to convince himself that Kyungsoo hasn’t seen the photos-until he can’t anymore.
Chanyeol finally manages to cajole Kyungsoo into playing a round with them, and to Jongdae’s great surprise, Kyungsoo is actually really great at the game. He eliminates them all and is only left with Chanyeol as an opponent.
“You’re so good,” Jongdae says without thinking, and snaps his mouth shut when he notices Kyungsoo look away from the television to glance at him.
In the second that Kyungsoo looks away, Chanyeol swoops in and eliminates his character. Immediately, Chanyeol starts celebrating, demanding a hug from Baekhyun and even his opponent Kyungsoo.
“Chanyeol beat me. Well,” Kyungsoo says, raising an eyebrow and meeting Jongdae’s gaze. “Now I’ve seen everything.”
Jongdae’s eyes widen and he stands. Before he can even think about what he’s doing, he says, “Kyungsoo! Can I talk to you for a sec?” and hurries off to the kitchen.
When he gets to the kitchen, he instantly regrets this stupid decision. Kyungsoo obviously knows, and now they’re going to be in a room alone together, and Jongdae’s going to have to talk about it. He’s going to have to face Kyungsoo one-on-one, even though he knows that Kyungsoo has seen his dick. His painfully mediocre dick, if he’s being completely honest with himself. He’s still pacing frantically around the middle of the kitchen when he hears the door crack open and Kyungsoo steps inside.
Kyungsoo is now standing in front of him. Jongdae rarely gets nervous, Jongdae rarely can’t think of anything to say. But now, Jongdae just stares. Stares at the curve of Kyungsoo’s mouth and the bump on his nose and the little mole above his lip.
“Hey,” Kyungsoo finally says, raising an eyebrow. “What did you want to talk about?”
Jongdae takes a deep breath. Kyungsoo stares, gaze heavy. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry-the pictures, that was an accident. They were supposed to go to this other guy, Kyungjoon-well, that’s not important. Anyway, I’m sorry. I don’t even know you that well and you’ve seen-well. I just, am so embarrassed, and I hope we can forget this whole thing ever happened, forget the pictures ever existed, never tell Chanyeol, and uh, go back to normal.”
When Jongdae finally finishes his speech, Kyungsoo squints. “What… are you talking about?”
Jongdae’s mouth hangs open. “What? I-you-”
“I’m kidding,” Kyungsoo says with a soft chuckle, stepping closer and patting Jongdae on the shoulder. “Don’t worry about it. I was really surprised, but I figured it was an accident and I’m not going to hold it over your head or anything. I’m not a dick. I won’t tell Chanyeol.”
Jongdae’s mouth hangs open for a few more seconds before he finally snaps it shut. Kyungsoo is actually nice and funny and kind of cute. Really cute. Too bad Jongdae has effectively ruined all chances of ever impressing or wooing the guy.
“That’s such a relief, you have no idea.” Jongdae chuckles, smiling widely. “I thought you were at least going to tease me about it.”
“What’s there to tease you about?” Kyungsoo says, punching Jongdae lightly in the shoulder. “You’ve got the whole package.”
“Kyungsoo,” Jongdae whines.
A few hours later, while Jongdae lies in bed and tries to fall asleep, he can’t help but think about Kyungsoo and what he said. Jongdae knows Kyungsoo was joking, but he suddenly can’t drop his curiosity about whether or not Kyungsoo actually liked the pictures.
TO KYUNGSOO DO
did you save the pics?
Jongdae stares at the message for a few minutes, waiting for Kyungsoo to respond. When he doesn’t, Jongdae shoves the phone under his pillow and attempts to fall asleep again. He’s not some middle school girl who’s going to wait up all night-
He abandons that thought and quickly grabs the phone when he hears a muffled ping.
FROM KYUNGSOO DO
That’s for me to know and for you to never find out.
Jongdae laughs. This Do Kyungsoo is not what he expected.
A few days and a few more texts exchanged with Kyungsoo later, Jongdae heads over to Chanyeol and Kyungsoo’s apartment to meet Chanyeol for lunch. No one lets him in when he knocks, so after a few minutes he lets himself in with the spare key. When he gets inside and slips off his shoes, he’s met with the sight of Kyungsoo exiting the bathroom with nothing but a towel around his waist.
Jongdae gapes. “Um, hey.”
Kyungsoo jumps and glares at Jongdae when he spots him standing by the door. “What are you doing here?”
“I’m, uh, meeting Chanyeol?” Jongdae says, stepping inside and shutting the door behind him. “Is he here?”
“He’s sleeping,” Kyungsoo says, glancing toward Chanyeol’s bedroom. He reaches down to firmly grasp the towel where it’s tied around his waist. “Can you… look away?”
“Hey, why should I? It’s only fair.”
Kyungsoo scoffs, turning on his heel and heading down the hallway toward his bedroom.
Jongdae follows him without thinking, tracing with his eyes the way the water drips down the line of Kyungsoo’s back, follows his moles. He doesn’t even realize he’s been following him until they reach Kyungsoo’s door and Kyungsoo slams it in his face.
“Ow,” Jongdae says, and he hears Kyungsoo laugh.
A minute later Kyungsoo opens the door again and gestures for Jongdae to come inside. Kyungsoo’s fully dressed now, in the same outfit he’d been wearing on Wednesday. Jongdae’s a little disappointed that the glasses are absent this time.
“I can enter your lair?” Jongdae says, stepping inside.
The room is-completely normal. White walls, a pristine carpet floor, and plain navy blue bedding. There’s a desk with a computer sitting on it and a bookshelf that’s relatively full, but other than that, the place is pretty plain. It’s definitely not the image that Jongdae and Baekhyun had managed to create in their heads after their first meeting with Kyungsoo. It’s not complete blackness, there’s no alter for sacrifices, and there’s certainly no dead animal bones.
“My lair?” Kyungsoo asks, eyebrows creasing.
He is cute when he’s confused, Jongdae wants to say. Instead, he says, “Yeah, Baekhyun thinks you’re a vampire or something. It’s not important.”
“Surprisingly, I get that a lot,” Kyungsoo says with a soft smile, gesturing toward his bed.
“Not so surprising,” Jongdae says as he takes a seat on the soft blue sheets.
Jongdae watches as Kyungsoo takes his towel and runs it over his wet hair. He watches the way the water drips down the back of his neck and disappears beneath his shirt. The way the muscles in his neck move when he bends it forward, and especially the way his butt looks when he bends over. When he finally looks away and lifts his head, Kyungsoo’s staring at him from over his shoulder.
“Uh,” Jongdae starts, cheeks turning red and wracking his brain for something to say. “You ever thought about sending nudes?”
“I can’t say that I have,” Kyungsoo says, hanging his towel on the back of his door and turning to Jongdae with a raised eyebrow.
“Bummer,” Jongdae says, and he kind of wants to reach into Kyungsoo’s hamper and shove a dirty sock into his mouth just so that he’ll stop talking. “You should try it sometime.”
“Really? I’ve heard it can go wrong,” Kyungsoo says as he walks over and takes a seat next to Jongdae. As he speaks, he counts off on his fingers. “Vengeful exes, humiliation, sending them to the wrong number…”
“Hey,” Jongdae interrupts, bumping his shoulder against Kyungsoo’s. “That’s not necessarily a bad thing.”

As the semester picks up and everyone gets busier with school, Jongdae and Kyungsoo’s relationship starts to progress mainly through text message. Kyungsoo is a lot cheekier over text and funny and charming and Jongdae thinks he might be falling just a little bit in love, even though he’s only spoken to Kyungsoo in person a total of four times.
The next time they meet, Jongdae vows to finally ask him on a date. The guy has already seen him naked, there’s no dignity left to lose.
They’re sitting on the couch in Kyungsoo’s apartment, watching some stupid reality cooking show that Jongdae isn’t paying attention to because he staring at Kyungsoo and smiling like an idiot. Kyungsoo’s wearing his cute glasses again and a sweater that he has pulled down over his knuckles and he keeps laughing at the stupid show and for a second, Jongdae can forget that this man has seen him naked and teased him relentlessly for it.
“Hey, Kyungsoo,” Jongdae says, and Kyungsoo turns to meet his eyes with a smile. “Do you want to go to dinner with me on Friday?”
“I don’t know,” Kyungsoo says. “I’ve already seen you naked. What’s left for me to gain from this relationship?”
Jongdae mock gasps and tackles Kyungsoo to the couch, wrapping his arms and legs around Kyungsoo’s body and squeezing. He’s pretty sure that Kyungsoo could get out of his hold in a matter of seconds, but he doesn’t even try, instead dissolving into laughter.
“Hey,” Jongdae huffs, poking Kyungsoo in the stomach. “There’s plenty that I have left to show you.”
Kyungsoo’s laughs quickly turns into a quiet moan when Jongdae accidentally rubs up against his ass. Jongdae jerks away quickly and releases Kyungsoo from his hold.
“Uh, yeah,” Jongdae says, ignoring the burning flush of his face. “So, dinner?”
Kyungsoo clears his throat. “Yeah, yep. Sounds good.”
