so i'm gonna be a really big astronomy nerd right now cuz i took a semester in high school and a semester here and surprisingly enough, retained the information really well. so.....

the ring around the moon is either a moon halo or a moon corona. a moon halo is caused by like ice crystals or something in the atmosphere and bend the light reflected off the moon to make a ring. a moon corona is caused by high thin clouds and are much smalled than halos. so yeah.....

The ring wasn't around just the moon...it was also around a few nearby constellations. I don't know what the hell it was, but it sure was pretty.
