Tonight I took Hannah into Homer and we tried a new restaurant, Try My Thai. This is apparently some quaint Asian phrase that translates loosely into bowls of hot curry flavored with different meats. For someone who normally finds cinnamon flavored candy to be excruciatingly hot this food was like being sprayed directly in the mouth with OC only ( Read more... )

My Polish-born parents aren't exactly fans of spicy food. A few years back, I took them to a Thai place a few towns over from where they live. They ordered their food extra-mild. I ordered mine regular.

I inhaled my food. They barely touched theirs. I tried their food and could barely even taste it.

There are a few very good Thai restaurants sprinkled around NJ. So far, I haven't hit one I didn't like.

Wow OC has ruined hot food for you has it not? I love hot food, the hotter the better. Even with being sprayed with OC and its evil older hotter brother Phase IV.

You know, we used to have a cajun officer working for us who actually sprayed his work OC on his eggs in the morning.

I hate to say it, but I can't stand that restaurant. I've been twice, and both times I hardly ate anything to be even remotely worth the price. I'm sorry you had a bad experience too :(

I figured it wasn't a good one when I saw that my car was the only one in the lot.

The good one is (I can't remember the name) the one with the buffet in the hotel across the street from where you work. They're the best and they're always packed.

Ahh Youngs :) Yes, I love them. I'm not a huge eater, though, so buffet prices always make me squirm. The food is always nice and fresh around lunchtime!

I hate Thai restaurants that believe everything has to be either smothered in peanut sauce or have loads of curry dumped into it.
The best Thai dish I ever had was in Kauai. It was simply chicken breast sauteed with garlic, fresh basil, tomatoes and onions. Served over jasmine rice. It was lovely, and so easy to recreate in the summer when we grow basil and tomatoes (haven't looked into raising the chickens yet).
