Wish I could do more than head-bob my agreement here, but I'm with you on all of this. I was surprised given how Glee's handled female empowerment (for relative values of) in the past that they came out and said Cell Block Tango isn't empowering. Because it isn't. Its a good song for Chicago, which is all about where women find their agency and what they'll do to keep it, but the song (especially the verse with the Hungarian) isn't empowering.
