Aww, you totally have a point. :( I AM glad Stargate finally decided to give it to us. For the most part, Atlantis does seem to have a better ratio of female-to-male expedition members.

If only this could have happened on SG-1. Even a one-episode team of Sam, Janet, Vala, and Dr. Lam. That would've been quite awesome. :D

I'm sorry Geonn, it seems like I've been bitching about this woman thing a lot lately. But I get kind of fed up with it. I graduated from engineering school in 1977 and have worked in some kind of technical job since, but I still get looked at like I have two heads when I change my own light switch or put a new hard drive in my computer. Yeah, it's my life, but I get tired of it.

Hey, no need to apologize to me! I agree with you! I mean, I'm one of the ones making a big deal about it, but that's just because I'm glad they finally did it. I never would have expected it from the boys club.

Now, I may be a member of said boys club, but I try to hide it as much as possible on-line. ;-D

I'm glad they did it, too. And a team on SG-1 with Sam, Vala, Janet, and Lam sounds great to me. Too bad we never saw that. Hathor came kind of close, but only because the men had all been compromised ( ... )

I turned off the episode after they introduced the all-female team in the most offensive and stupid way possible. :(

I think that Mallozzi probably wants (and gets) credit for writing kick-ass women, but he still doesn't get that the way to write good female characters is not just to make them good with guns or whatever, but to write them as *human beings*, not oddities to be gawked at.

Word!

Amanda Tapping told the writers in Season 1 of SG-1 to write her like they would write Daniel. After that I started liking her character. In fact, Sam is one of my favorite characters ever! Why is this such a hard concept for male writers?

I'm trying so hard to be shocked that SGA was offensive and stereotypically shitty on the gender issue. Really. I so totally am.

I know. You'd think that a Colonel, who has had 2 female commanders and one female teammate would act older than 12, wouldn't you? But no...
