Also, as for auto-threading: from personal experience, I know that in Gmail's web interface, if a new message is posted in a thread, it reappears in the inbox, jumps to the top of the listing, and shows as unread.
I finally figured out the threading clicky in Thunderbird. But the problem there is unless you've got it clicked, there's no sign there's anything hiding. Was using POP3.
Even when I forwarded a copy to myself, it was just rethreading. And not always marking as a new e-mail.
Hell, I'm now wondering if I've been losing Toastmaster's club meeting arrangement e-mails to this in my Real Name gmail account!
Wait, I can import emails from other accounts into Gmail?! HOW?!
Cuz, uh, yeah, I totally wanna ditch Yahoo, but I have so much shit archived in there I don't wanna lose. I was just deciding to cut and run, but if I can keep shit, they hellz yeah!
It takes a change in preferred news settings in Yahoo, but after that it'll allow POP3 access even in a free account.
In Gmail, go to Settings, then "Accounts And Import". Then "Check mail via POP3" for permanent solution, or "Import mail and contacts" if you just want what's there now.
I chose the first option, and it didn't keep folders or Read markings.
