Of New Characters and Woes

So, I believe most of you have heard about the new APH characters right now?

It's fine, I'll put this anyway as reference:

Well....I don't know, at first I was like: "HOMGWTFBBQJESUSCHRISTHOYEAH!!1!1!"
and then I was: "...wait a minute, something smells fishy...." >:|

Considering how high the reaction of w-fandom regarding the new countries appearance, I think I might be one of the few who have this opinion;

I actually think that the ones we have seen are not the official designs of said countries, but more like the drawings of people Himaruya have met when he's studying in US.

and here's the reason why I came into that conclusion:
  1. The subtitle before the character designs is; 'Frequently requested countries and the people I met.'
Mm-hmmm. And he never really stated that the colored picture is the final design of the countries.
  2. The J-fandom is awfully quiet about this and it's really suspicious. There's no sign of fanart outbreak in pixiv either and it's definitely unusual. I mean; Portugal? Hello? There's no way J-fans would miss the opportunity on pairing him(?) with Spain or England.
  3. The design itself; they looked so -how should I put it- ordinary. All of them. I mean if the colored ones were truly the finished designs, I'll have to say that Himaruya is losing his touch. The characters didn't have that certain 'hetalia-esque' charm like those of official characters, and somehow they looked forced. Even the background drafts looked better than the colored ones! He certainly can do much better than that, I believe in him.

    On the side notes:
This is just my personal preference on the draft designs Himaruya has made, but I would totally go for Portugal design with slight ponytail up there, hurr so potentially gorgeous ^p^
And somehow I always depict Luxembourg with glasses so I think I'm gonna go with that, although the wavy hair one is also okay.
I don't care which gender Himaruya will choose for Indonesia, both draft designs looked fine for me. Though if by any chance he choose the male design one, I think I'm gonna die a happy death since it looked so much like my fanon INA XDD
Can't say much about Malaysia since she/he doesn't have draft designs. I'm looking forward for this too.
Anyway, since there's so many unclear issues regarding these so called new hetalia countries, I'm not gonna do anything regarding them until the final designs are officially out.

That's said, now here's some fandom quirks I have to let out:
I know this is a common occurrence in fandom, but reading some of the comments in the main comm..... (-___-;;) oh boy.
If I could do quadruple face-palms I would certainly do it. Man, I know you were totally excited but there's no need to burst out your personal kink to the public. Honestly. Terutama komentator dari negeri sendiri, ya ampun Gusti--, please dong ah jangan membuat malu bangsa dan tanah air!
It's too bad that even after more than two years involved in this fandom, my body and soul is still not immune enough against that kind of comments. If it did, that would certainly make my fandom life easier.

You know, I'm truly happy if my country were to be represented in APH, I really do, since this is probably the longest fandom I've ever involved myself in. But I really dread the influx hordes of ABG labil* fans who reaaaally really need to read more of their own country's histories aside from their school's text books before they want to start making historical fics or doujinshis. Seriously dudes, do your research diligently. I'm utterly fed up with many bad inaccurate historical fics I've encountered so far.

Okay, actually it's not their excessive fangirling that makes me feel annoyed, we were all once silly 13 years old teenagers with explosive hormones, it's puberty and that's one part of the youth that makes our lives colorful, so I could somehow tolerate them. But what really annoy me the most is their apparent lack of knowledge of their own country's histories and how they could be so proudly boasting or showing some inaccurate facts to the masses just to cater to their own taste of fanworks. God, it irks me so!

Note:
*ABG labil equals the typical 13 y.o. kawaii desu desu type of fans in western fandom.

Well, I think that's all I have to say. Now, I'll have to go back to my slumber so that I could finish this crazy deadlines I've set up.
Also, if you haven't watched Inazuma Eleven by now, go watch it quick. That series is strangely awesome!

[EDIT]
It looks like there's already a clarification that the new character designs are in fact not the official designs in the main comm---> show thread.
Phew! I'm relieved for the time being. ^ ^
