“Come on lets go!”

The group of four all made their way to the train station, Chinen and Ryutaro still staying close to each other. Yuto stayed slightly behind them to keep Yamada company, who right then was sulking.

“So where are we going exactly Ryu-chan?” Yuto asked calling over to the front pair,

“To town,” He called back grinning, “Just wait and see~”

The beanstalk rolled his eyes at the vague answer.

“I don’t think you’ll get more than that,” Chii said as he turned to face Yuto, “He won’t even tell me!”

Yuto chuckled at the younger’s face which was now set into a cute pout. Chinen was always spoiled by Ryutaro and would usually get his way round when it came to people by either pulling the cute card or being very persuasive.

Once they got to town, they started to worm their way through the mass of people in the main road without losing each other. Ryutaro was at the lead with Chinen clinging to his side while Yuto held onto Chii and dragged Yamada behind him. After some pushing, they finally pulled out onto a side street filled with different restaurants. Ryutaro wandered down the street looking around, musingly.

“Hey! “ Yuto called out, “Don’t tell me you actually didn’t have an actual destination!”

Ryutaro turned around and smiled, “Well… Isn’t it more fun this way…”

The beanstalk shook his head and hit the guy on his head jokingly and they both laughed.
At this time Yamada had noticed how Chinen seemed to have turned weirdly quiet and wondered why, till he realised what was down this street. At the end of the lane was the maid café that the younger worked in. He smiled inwardly to himself, remembering how this maid café was what helped him get closer to Chii. Compared to the small guy, Yamada wasn’t worried at all since a maid café wasn’t something guys like them would actually go into- but oh how wrong was he.

Just then Yuto pointed to the café that stood out from the rest of the normal restaurants on the street and said with a laugh, “Oooh how about there guys?”

Ryutaro laughed at the suggestion while Chinen and Yamada also managed to give a shaky version.

“Haha very funny Yuto- now come on where should we actually go,” Yamada said, eyeing Chinen.

“What are you talking about Yamada? Why not go there? It will be so funny,” Ryutaro countered.

“Really guys? Come on be serious now- how about this place?” Yamada tried to steer them away and pointed at a normal looking ramen store.

“Nah… I want to try this maid café. It will be fun, right Chii?” Ryutaro put his arm around the younger, who was now biting his lip nervously.

“Umm… Well I think I agree with Yamada-san,” Chii answered.

“Aww come on Chii, it will be a laugh,” Ryutaro said, giving him a soft smile.

“Yeah. Ok it is settled- come on Yamada lets go!” Yuto grabbed the smaller guy and pulled him to the café where one of the maid’s immediately greeted them.

“Seems like there is no turning back now Chii,” Ryutaro whispered as they managed to catch up to Yuto.

“Good Afternoon Masters,” the maid said cutely as she bowed, doing her normal procedure, but when she looked up and saw Yamada, she momentarily stopped. She was about to say something as all the maids in the store had come to recognise Yamada because of his regular visits and the known connection to Chinen. However, when he gave her a look and a slight shake of the head, she stopped herself and just continued to talk to Yuto.

“So a table for two?”

“Oh no- 4,” Yuto answered and moved to the side to reveal the other two. The maid’s eyes went wide as she saw Chinen but he also gave her the shake of the head and so she just nodded at what Yuto said then showed them inside. Both Yamada and Chinen gave a quiet sigh of relief, as they were able to enter the maid café safely but as soon as they did, the moment of relief broke.

“Yamada-san!” Sakura, one the maids, exclaimed, missing the look of warning Risa (the first maid) gave.

Luckily with Yamada’s quick thinking, he replied, “Oh Sakura-chan!! I never knew you worked here,”

Sakura gave him a confused look but couldn’t answer as Risa pulled her away and left them in the care of Sora, who with one look at the two understood that she shouldn’t say anything. She led them to their table and gave them the menu before leaving the four to talk.

“So Yamada, you know that girl?” Yuto asked straightforwardly, as soon as they were left alone.

He nodded vaguely in reply as he pretended to look through the menu even though he already knew what he was getting.

“How?”

“You know an acquaintance. Met her a few times at these parties,” Yamada replied airily.

“Oh… For a moment I thought you had been here before,” Ryutaro teased.

He gave a slight sideward glance at Chinen and wanting to change the topic, pointed out the funny names on the menu. They wasted some time looking through the menu, laughing and debating jokingly over which was the worst.

“Oooh ok I know I’ll have this ‘Magic Love Smoothie’,” Yuto said with a slight mocking tone, “How about you Chii?”

“Hmmm… maybe this ‘Bouncy Berries Dessert’,” he answered with a cute smile. He knew this didn’t require any show but sniggered at Yuto’s choice knowing it was the worst one.

Just then Risa came,  “Masters, have you chosen what to order?”

They nodded and each told her what they wanted before she left again with a bow.

“Ryu so how was home schooling?” Yuto asked.

“It was so boring. I totally missed hanging out with you guys everyday,” then with a glance at Yamada added, “I especially missed not having my Yuri with me everyday too.”

This made the chibi slightly blush but also smile sweetly at Ryutaro, while Yamada was quietly gagging inside with the scene before him.

“There really isn’t more to say though. How about you guys?” Ryutaro seemed to have directed the question to Chinen.

The younger looked down to his fingers, “Umm nothing really has happened with us as well, still the same.”

“What are you talking about? How about Yamada here?” Yuto interjected.

The guy who was minding his own business looked up in surprise as he heard the conversation steer towards him.

“Oh yeah so you guys became friends with Yamada-san?” Ryutaro asked, again directing the question to the small guy next to him.

“Unn… I guess…” Chii answered, trailing off, “Well Yuto was put in charge of looking after Yamada-san.”

“True but Chii got along with Yamada too,” Yuto added.

Yamada could see how uncomfortable Chinen was getting at the way the conversation was heading after what happened that morning. He watched the way a blush grew on the younger’s cheek and his eyes flitted nervously around. It was actually really cute.

“Well Chinen is someone who just gets along with everyone right?” Yamada said making Chinen look at him even if it was just slightly from under his lashes.

Sora then came with their orders placing it in front of them a sweet strawberry cheesecake for Yamada, the bouncy berries desert for Chinen and the fresh apple pie for Ryutaro.

"Your order will be coming soon master," Sora told Yuto before bowing and walking off.

The food in front of them looked so cute and yummy, leaving Yuto and Ryutaro staring with sparkles in their eyes. Yamada was the first to take a bite and he hummed in approval.

“Aww it looks really good…I want mine now…” Yuto moaned as he watched the others eating happily.

“Don’t worry I think its on the way,” Chinen smirked, eyeing Sora coming over with the smoothie on her tray.

She stopped by the table and placed the smoothie down in front of Yuto who was grinning cheerfully. However, when he tried to drink it, Sora quickly stopped him.

“No master you cannot drink it yet! It’s not ready! We need to complete it by giving your love!” She exclaimed.

Both Yuto and Ryutaro looked at her dumbfounded.

“Look. You have to do the love beam,” Sora explained and showed them. It was truthfully quite a ridiculous little act filled with made up words and actions.

Yuto seemed to be absolutely terrified and was looking at the others for help but they were busy trying to stifle their laughter. With a scarlet face he did the little act and when Sora left the others couldn’t help but burst out with the laughter they’d been holding in.

Yuto scowled at them, “Ugh I can’t believe you guys.”

“Ahhh… I’m sorry Yutti but it was really so funny...” Chii giggled.

The bamboo stick pouted and turned to the other guy next to him, “Come on Yamada back me up!”

“But it really was… I’m going to have to agree with Chii here,” Yamada responded amused and just as quickly as the laughter erupted, an awkward atmosphere fell around them. The calling of Chinen’s nickname and eye contact between the two caused them to fall silent, looking away.

When Yamada had called him by that familiar name again, Chinen had felt his heart jump. It was as if it was triggered by his voice, by him. He squeezed his eyes shut and took a deep breath before turning back to face the table.

Yuto looked at Ryutaro and a silent conversation went between them.

“Well it’s getting late, I think we should go home now…” Yuto said, breaking the silence and getting nods of agreements from the others.

After paying, they left the café and walked out onto the darkening streets. Each bid their goodbyes as they lived in different areas and went their separate ways. Chinen decided to stay behind and went to a small cake shop that he knew his sister loved. He remembered that his sister had an exam today and wanted to give her a special treat.

Once he stepped out onto the streets, he was surprised to see Yuto facing him.

“Yutti! What are you doing here?”

The taller guy gestured for them to walk and Chii stepped into place beside him.

“Well… I just wanted to have a small talk with you…” he started, “…. About Yamada.”

Chinen suddenly stopped, “What are you talking about?”

“Come on Chii, don’t act like you don’t know. I just want to know what happened? Why are you avoiding Yamada?”

The younger didn’t say anything and continued to look down at the pavement.

“Is it because you like Yamada?”

Chinen’s head snapped up, “What?”

“Is it because you like Yamada?”

“I don’t like him.”

Yuto looked at him, “Don’t lie. I know you like Yamada more than just as a friend.”

The younger denied Yuto’s accusation again and a sigh escaped from the elder’s lips.

“Seriously? Stop denying it Chinen. I’m your best friend- do you think I wouldn’t have noticed.”

Even though he really wanted to keep on rejecting what Yuto was saying, he knew that the elder would not back down so he just gave a defeated shrug of his shoulders in response. This caused a massive smile to appear on Yuto’s face but when he saw the troubled face on the younger’s face he put an arm around him.

“Hey you do know it’s ok to ‘like-like’ him if that’s what you’re worried about.” He comforted.

“No it isn’t Yuto. First we’re both guys and second he doesn’t like me back.”

“Chii are you seriously worrying over something like that? Your gender?”

“Ok fine throw gender out but that still doesn’t erase the fact that he doesn’t like me and that I just don’t know how to deal with feelings like this and that I wish it would stop because it’s stupid and I’m stupid and-” Chinen stopped, closed his eyes and breathed out, “Look I just don’t want to talk right now. I’m sorry Yuto. Goodnight…”

Chinen turned away, wrapping his arms around himself and walked quickly down the streets leaving the tall figure behind.
