Weekly re-cap: went out to eat about once a day (last of week of academic year madness), went to a couple of pleasantly laid-back parties (ibid), got a hot new cell phone (hiptop 'splode! [new # in members]), slept on couches more often than is optimal for geezers such as myself (and then went to work the next day). I'll roll over to the cingular

It looks pretty sexy, a guy came to the film club last night sporting one and I got to play with it a bit... I'd like to play with it a bit more... :)

So far, it's great. The Razr does IM, email, and web in addition to being a well-designed phone. It's nice to not be stuck with T-Mobile's network, too.

I was walking through the mall with my car charger, etc. in a cingular bag and the guy trying to get people to get free cell phones with a service plan figures he'll try to sell to me. He asked what kind of phone I bought, and instead of my usual "not interested" without breaking stride, I stop and show him my Razr. He goes "oh..." And I took his silence as a chance to tell him that the sidekick was a really well-designed phone, but that T-Mobiles network was worthless.

What's retail on the Razr now? I've been waiting for the price to get reasonable first.

Amazon has them for $49 after rebate, but they don't sell Cingular service around here, so I can't get it from them. And I'm not keen on paying 4x that.
