"I think that this is why I relish writing so much. It makes it possible for me to be not like I am, but as I desire for [others] to see me. hmmm, you know, that's something i try to avoid in my writing. I try to edit as little as possible and put down the inventions that come out of my mind. Granted I take my time with diction and syntax, organizing my thoughts carefully and clearly, but I really try to just put out there what ever it is in its matter-of-fact state. i dunno, I can relate to what he says and I would be lying if i said i never change or edit things for content and not just delivery but it just seems that my writing is more an extension of who I really am rather than who I want myself to be.

...(new thought) or maybe I am so content with myself when i write than the two are the same?

to tell you the truth, I don't completely agree with him either, but I love the quote anyway. I personally feel that my writing, when interpreted correctly, is often a truer representation of me than I am in real life (sounds weird I know, but there is some truth to it). I have time to show who I really am, what I really tihnk. This character had some very specific reasons to change his writing to represent a self that was made up of "not-truths".

But I think you'll have to admit that at the same time, there is definitly some truth to the quote.
