I know you're not talking about Bob's mother, but you could be. She has never held a job that lasted longer than two years, and although she has managed to quit before she got fired a few times, it's been rare and always been at the very last minute. She's burned so many bridges that the only thing left is earning $100 a month to run a "bible college" in Uganda. When your own children, siblings, and mother are kind of happy that you moved to Africa, maybe you're doing something wrong, you know?

Or were you purposely obfuscating his/her gender to protect the "innocent."

What's really sad is the number of guesses I can come up with for who this is, even limiting to the narrow cross section of people we know in common.
